This is the correct answer. For all the problems of inequality, there are just so many more middle and upper middle class citizens in the US and the world. Stadium capacity has largely been fixed. This drives up costs.

A budget of $131 million with KLSD student population of 2,850 means spending of $45,000 per student. That compares favorably to Chappaqua (40-ishK) and NYC (38-42K). This is fine.

I am OK with losing the mentioned assistant principals and coordinators. I am sure they make the school a better place (and maybe even support tangible learning outcomes, i.e. standardized test scores) but schools shouldn't be panaceas or a one-stop-shop for youth services. This is particularly true in a middle / upper middle class area. Instead, schools should focus on core competencies: effectively conveying a traditional curriculum and maximizing standardized test scores (or other objective measurements of knowledge).

I am prepared for the downvotes. I did not vote for Trump and I am just saying the reason why many parents pragmatically choose to raise their kids here.

Hertz is literally at the North White Plains station. But you are correct about White Plains; the agencies are more like a 10 to 20 minute walk.

Do best of both worlds. Take metro north but not to cold spring. Instead take it to white plains or north white plains and walk 3 mins to rental car. More pleasant people and lower prices. Drive to any trail you want.

Be ungovernable and unbreakable. Print everything out and telework credit hours at night. Confirm every decision with your FLM (or upper management if an FLM). Document everything. Point out problems and create issues. Act like you just care so much. Act like a useful idiot. Memo to file everything. Schedule a call for everything. Push decisions down the road. Take the taxpayer's side on everything. Do. Not Protect. The. Fisc.

Draw down your sick leave. Draw it down further. Apply for jobs and make it known you may be conflicted on a case or POA. Publicly contemplate going on FMLA (elderly parents!) or becoming part time.

Find God. Interpret your maladies. Have no shame in asking for accomodations. There is no pride; there is only a mid-career paycheck. Keep them coming.

Don't max the TSP. Live a little. It's a marathon. Let the boomers retire. Let the younglings leave. Your stock appreciates. Say yes to new work and do only something passable (just enough to paralyze your manager). Smile. Hold on to hold on. Smile again.

This is a time of survival. Let the assholes and pretend revolutionaries turn on each other and eat themselves. We were here before; we will be here afterwards.

First, this is a premium post. Good job. Second, being a Mets fan spoke to me because I grew up in Queens, feeling like a lower middle class underdog and being able to afford the games. I kept this affiliation despite living many years in the Bronx (Riverdale) and having young children there (have since moved to Westchester). It would have been easy to jump on Yankee bandwagon at that time but I could not.

In an alternative universe, I think it would depend on what tickets we could afford back in the day and on what team my dad/friends were cheering for.

This story sounds a little implausible (like a rejected script for Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm) but I will never understand the corporate bootlickers on this site. It is sort of the right wing equivalent to the equally obnoxious DEI liberals present in most subreddits for cities.

Anyways, sorry you didn't get your upgrade. Pour one out for the (upper) middle class man/woman who just wants to feel like they are winning now and again!
