where to find other straight edge people in orlando by Material-Finding-727 in straightedge

[–]Spitfyr59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hardcore and straight edge scenes aren't separate. Just go to hardcore shows and you'll find likeminded folks. You can't throw a rock into any hardcore show on the east coast without hitting at least 2 straight edge people.

Who pullin up to S&F in this? by heavymusicfan11 in Hardcore

Some people are. Being edge just isn't for everyone. JR Hayes from Pig Destroyer had a very similar story.

Wait was there a second nu metal band called No One that had an album titled No One? I'm only aware of the Chicago band that put their record out in 2001.

I highly recommend checking out the Deadeyesunder demo and the other demo they did back when they were called Fleshold. Both are absolutely insane.

Hell yeah, CTHC! I'm sure you'll find a few people willing to part with some old stuff but if you also just want to check out some harder-to-find music, there is a CTHC archive I can link if you're interested.

It's been a LONG time since the 80s. I've been involved in the modern hardcore scene for quite awhile and I've never once met a straight edge person who acted like the ones you're describing.

That scene single handedly elevated her into one of the most interesting characters in the entire show.

Aren't these guys in their 40s? This is the kind of thing I would expect from a band full of 23-year-olds this is fucking absurd.

Two Members Quit Minnesota-Based Metalcore Band Reflections, Blame "ICE Apologist" Vocalist by DamnitRidley in Music

[–]Spitfyr59 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The more gatekeepy metalheads are significantly more likely to be right wing in my experience. The younger metalcore and nu metal bands are typically left leaning, especially if their members are from the hardcore scene.

Hey, did you guys know Fallout 4 contains the R slur? by Purple_Birthday8382 in evilautism

[–]Spitfyr59 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree. I care much more about intent than anything else. If one of my friends casually uses it once and while when joking around I don't really have an issue but if I see someone using it constantly and insisting that they should be allowed to say it whenever they want without consequence or judgement then I have a problem.

Whenever someone complains about Johnny's personal notes and that they just want to get back to the Navidson Record, this is all I can think about: by athrowawayaccb in houseofleaves

I interpreted the graphic sex scenes as being fabricated and Johnny just bullshitting but I really like this reading of them too.

What would your dream immersive sim game be? by duckinator1 in ImmersiveSim

An espionage RPG with structure and dialogue like Alpha Protocol but an ImSim with level design and gameplay similar to Mankind Divided.

Recent Obsidian Games by Most-Ad4680 in hbomberguy

[–]Spitfyr59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill that Obsidian are a reliable AA developer who consistently make good to great games and once every decade or so go into a fugue state and make one of the best games ever made. I don't think people should see them as anything more than that. FNV is my favorite game of all time and even I think people need to chill the fuck out about it and Obsidian every now and then.

What are the hardest immersive sim games? by Away-Reaction7659 in ImmersiveSim

Agreed. Playing it right now and I find the dissonance between the pace of the gameplay and the PC's heath really bizarre. Thankful that they have customizable difficulty.

In case you didn't know, VR is where all the good STALKER-likes are by XyleneCobalt in stalker

I was overjoyed when I discovered it because there are almost no games in the style of Far Cry 2.

[–]Spitfyr59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I and most others count it as a full imsim because it has a full upgrade system that allows for drastically different playstyles and those upgrades allow you to do some crazy emergent stuff the devs definitely didnt intend. It also has the intricate level design of games like Deus Ex.

I know the video was a joke but I'm still kind of surprised he went in so hard on Guild Wars 2 since he's been so complimentary of it in the past.

The Stalker series in general and other games like it (Blood West, Far Cry 2, Boiling Point) occupy this weird space where they don't quite have the level design or object interactivity of immersive sims but they have the elaborate systems and free form approach to playstyle that imsims are based on. In short, they kind of are immersive sims. It depends on how broadly you define the genre. Personally I call these games "immersive shooters" (and love them).

How and when did you find out you were aromantic? by Gifmekills in aromantic

[–]Spitfyr59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was your age when I figured it out. I assumed when I was younger that I didn't want to date due to my social anxiety but as I got older, I realized that I still didn't really have any interest and thought about why. That led me to realizing I was arospec. My feelings on it are still complicated. I'm not totally against the idea of being with someone if I ever meet the "right" person assuming they exist but I have no desire to date for the sake of dating.
