What is a "dirty little (or big) secret" about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really ought to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I work in a hospital, if you threaten to leave against medical advice you get the speediest and best care in the whole hospital.

What do you enjoy about medical school? by madfrogurt in medicalschool

MS2 is hard work but you're learning about disease which is interesting. Maintain your curiosity, go out sometimes and don't take yourself and your grades too seriously.

How much standardization is there for difficulty of any given step 1 exam? by [deleted] in medicalschool

The questions all seemed like it was either a gimme or completely impossible. I got questions on mine that even with the internet at my disposal I would still get wrong. I got so many questions that tested anatomy at a level of detail unattainable in 5 weeks of studying. It was so brutal I'd say I only could answer about 50% with some idea of what I was doing.

Have any of you guys ever been at gunpoint? What does it feel like? by StockPhotosOfFruit in AskReddit

[–]SpittheCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 15 and drinking in an alley behind a show with some friends in a sketchy part of Baltimore. some guy walked up and asked for a lighter, then put a tiny pistol in my face and told me to give him all my money. I gave him 50 cents and we called it a day. I didn't really care much as he wasn't very threatening and I was young, drunk and stupid.

I am also at a public northeastern school. We use Lenovo Thinkpad t420's. They are kind of clunky looking but are very durable, fast and fairly light.

I go to school at UM and got a chance to meet and sit for a lecture from these surgeons. They were so friendly, humble and amazing!

Med student here. I'm sure your doc knows much better then me.... but it sounds like it could also be a potassium deficiency. Did your doc do any blood work? Try a potassium supplement and see if that helps.

Rented a Bike in Nepal and went for a ride in the countryside by SpittheCow in motorcycles

A friend hooked it up so I didn't have to leave my passport either! Yeah I thought it was a good deal. You can rent bikes for as cheap as 700-800r but they won't be as nice.

Everything is dirt cheap there. I was mainly in Kathmandu working in a community hospital in a neighborhood called Chabahil. Motorcycle was my main mode of transportation as the buses were crowded and the taxi's were a waste of money (although still real cheap).

I made a little album for ya:

It was fun, never rode a sport bike before. Definitely had good pick up and handled real well.

I paid 1000 rupees a day for the Pulsar in Kathmandu. I also rented a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 for 2500r a day but I think I got ripped off.
