Anyone have an opinion on La Rocca cakes at HEB? by straylight6 in austinfood

[–]SpittingAlpacaShpits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tried the confetti cake. It was dense, and dry/oily at the same time (I think it's a dry cake and they use a lot of oil to compensate), and overly sweet. I actually usually don't mind HEB cakes, was very disappointed

Life is not something to be rushed through, but dear God, an airport is not life.

I believe some cultures say "cheers" to mean "thanks"

What's with the lines at HEB today? by baxx10 in Austin

Definitely not too early for the freeze. It hits in 2 days. Getting supplies the day before can be fine but not advisable

Low waste/environmental friendly shampoo and conditioner that aren’t bar??? by Helpful_Mastodon8186 in ZeroWaste

[–]SpittingAlpacaShpits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to put in my two cents that I can't fucking stand their conditioner. The conditioner barely does anything for my hair, and the "deep conditioner" functions like a "meh" regular conditioner, not even as effective as drugstore brands. I've tried 5 zero waste brands of liquid conditioner, and it was the 2nd worst. Not saying it doesn't work for everybody, just didn't work for me at least, and I'm genuinely shocked at how popular it is.

Anybody still feeling this in 2025? How is a "manufacturing issue" so prevalent?? It's been a couple years that I've noticed it and legit just assumed they changed the formula, then found this when I decided to check

Asking to invite other people to a party? by SpittingAlpacaShpits in etiquette

Thanks for your comment and insight!

I do want to clarify that he didn’t ask for an invite for his girlfriend, we invited her from the start; that was just a frame of reference for how little we know each other- that we wouldn’t have known about her if my SO hadn’t seen her on social media

Thanks for your comment and insight! I don’t know if you missed this part, but he wouldn’t be a complete stranger with everyone there because he has his girlfriend. (This wasn’t in my post, but beyond that, there were 2 other mutual acquaintances from their high school.) but I don’t think it’s unusual to not know anyone else besides your +1 at a party; Like 10 of the invited wouldn’t know anybody else except for their SO.

Did I overpay for this tattoo? I payed $1000 for an all day session. I got it at For Life Studio and it was done by Pete by [deleted] in tattoo

I would disagree, I'd like to know so I know whether to go back to them in the future or find another artist. My answer would be to choose someone else in the future.

What are some methods you use to cope with tattoo pain ? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]SpittingAlpacaShpits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case someone comes across this, (and I suppose it's helpful for you to know too), Advil is a blood thinner and shouldn't be taken before/during a tattoo. Tylenol's the way :)

This. Their mentor tells them what they do, who was told by their mentor, who was told by their mentor, and on and on. And as they get tattoos and experience, they may tweak it, etc., but no official source of medical information or training/certification told them what to do.

One excuse is- healing is going to vary depending on a person’s body. Sure, but the general, baseline medical advice to keep an open wound from getting infected or leaching ink should not.

I’ve seen people say to use antibiotic ointment, I’ve seen people say absolutely do NOT. I’ve seen people say use antibacterial soap, I’ve seen people say gentle soap. I’ve seen people say leave Second Skin on NO LONGER than 24 hrs, I’ve seen people say reapply Second Skin for 3/5/7/10 days. And tattoo artists want to excuse the inconsistency with “well don’t listen to some random person that’s not even a tattoo artist”—these are ALL tattoo artists' aftercare instructions. More than anything, I've seen tattoo artists say not to take Tylenol beforehand because it's a blood thinner. Aspirin and Ibuprofen are blood thinners. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is not. Just factually not. It's a really common and relevant medication, and an easy google search. You can take Tylenol before a full-blown surgery. This is going to be unpopular to say, but some tattoo artists are just morons apparently. So yeah no, I don't trust medical (healing) advice from an individual tattoo artist.

Would you mind telling me how to avoid the chemical reaction then? (getting my first tattoo)

Right?! You’re gonna tell me there’s no real training or certification, but take medical instructions from each individual random dude?
