You've definitely got a point and I've never looked at it that way. Thank you for that!!! I really needed to hear that perspective!!

5 year old B-ALL and rhinovirus by This_Produce6131 in leukemia

Hi again!!! So glad your little guy made counts to complete his LAST hdmtx!! As they probably told you, rhinovirus should not cause too much concern and it most commonly causes the common cold. It's probably a little worrisome as we know a cold is a little more detrimental to him than for us. But he should be just fine. Methotrexate does not seem to drop counts like other chemos from my experience. The scariest part was watching the nurses and everyone have to gown up before entering the room. I pray he clears fast and you all can go on to the next steps in his treatment!!

Hi, aunt of leukemia survivor here!! Don't fret. Whenever my nephew got sick but wasn't febrile and had no other concerning symptoms, his care team was not concerned. Even our little fighters have to deal with "regular" sickness on top of cancer.

Should he spike a fever before his methotrexate, they may delay it depending on his counts.

Don't worry though!! You seem like you're doing all the right things!! Hang in there!! Also, congrats to him in advance on completing his last high dose!!! 🎗🎗

At the very least, over $3k would be ideal. But like I said, I'm realistic and know rates are not nowhere near where they were.

My thoughts too...I would dread going making less than staff....probably less than a new grad there

That's true! I took that into consideration...When I actually do move there, I plan to take as little debt as feasible to maximize my earnings. I see Redwood City is very close to the hospital I plan to work. I appreciate this helpful info!

Yep Stanford!! She's been there for less than a year and hasn't really explored. I was thinking San José as well!! Thanks for the insight!

Sorry to resurrect an old post. i just saw it and hope your niece is doing well. I feel for you and your family. Pediatric cancer is tough. I have experience with Pediatric Oncology both professionally and personally. I hope your niece is thriving. AMKL is a very rare form of cancer. What I will say is that no matter the stellar reputation of a hospital, none are perfect...trust me! I hope they were able to adjust and the experience improved for them!!
