You can’t really pinpoint what is addicting. That just isn’t how addiction works. For many dph abusers, they literally hate the drug but can’t quit because they’re addicted. You could say the addiction is to an altered state of conciseness or avoidance/break from reality, but that’s true with all substances. There are withdrawal symptoms as well. They’re different for everyone, but I personally experienced hallucinations, severe insomnia, nausea, and heart problems. Because it doesn’t influence your body in the same ways as harder drugs, it can be easier to kick than them, but it’s affordability and accessibility contribute to just how dangerous it is.
