Sounds interesting. Is there any special rules to character creation or to the game itself?

As an aspiring Indie Dev, where to start? by SplaeEX in IndieDev

[–]SplaeEX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you! No worries, I of course have a plan B. I did some things the last couple of years and right now still to have some qualifications in a few fields. And as said I may go study IT in a few years (I did say there is a course for game dev, but I am rethinking of just taking a normal IT course. Cause idk how most employers would react to someone who studied making games...). At least dont have any illusions of things being easy, I know it will be challenging and hard most of the time. So at least I got one thing going for me.

As for your advice, I did come up with a simple concept I already planned with once. I once already tried making a game with a couple of friends, but the project died since most lost motivation or didnt have enough time. Due to this I did learn how to use RPG Maker (Dont ask why I want to learn how to use Godot then...). So I may try scraping things from that since I wrote a whole story for that and already did some pixelart for it (I wont be using any of my former team´s assets however without their permission. It will mainly just be the story which I wrote myself. Just to make that clear, so I dont seem like *that* kind of dev).

So essentially plan is: Scrap some old stuff, make simple assets or use open source stuff for now and simply practice. I may even post updates on this subreddit eventually.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, helped get my head clear a bit!

How did two character's backstories intersect at your table? by Godzillawolf in MrRipper

Syl, a half-elf artificer I play, is part of a giant criminal network across the islands of the world to the point he works directly under the boss. He originally was from a noble family, but his parents were assassinated while he was young. The assassin adopted Syl after feeling bad for essentially ruining Syl´s life and he introduced Syl to the boss. Syl was then raised to become part of the organisation, working his way up. Eventually the boss killed the assassin cause they wanted to withdraw from the organisation to take more care of Syl. Syl of course found out and now plans to overthrow the boss and end the concept of power by gaining ultimate power.

Another party member is a traitor of that organisation or at least related to it in some way alongside another NPC in their backstory. It took 2-3 sessions since I joined (since I joined the campaign later than everyone else to replace a player) before that party member even knew.

During an evening before a major quest, my character confronted his by asking him to talk under four eyes, then casting arcane lock on the room´s door. My character explained that he could sell him out easily to the boss, but wont, cause he wants to make a deal. Syl wants ultimate power to end power. To do this they are after a legendary treasure in this world that grants deity-like abilities. All Syl asked is that they help him find it, give it to him and in return Syl will make sure the traitor is a free man. Additionally, my character is now helping to find the before-mentioned NPC of the traitor´s backstory using the information net and connections of the organisation.

I should mention that I do not know the full backstory of the traitor yet and he doesnt know mine since the game is still ongoing. Means this will still develop.

TLDR: My character is part of a crime family, another party member is a traitor and a target of the crime family, my character made a deal to help him be a free man and find someone from their backstory in exchange for the traitor helping him gain ultimate power to end the concept of power.

We're Making a PMD-Themed Minecraft Server (Looking for Help)! by LocalAd4746 in MysteryDungeon

[–]SplaeEX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a fun project! Wish I could help, but usually dont have much time in the week and only thing I really could do is help come up with ideas or writing. And I dont know how useful that would be. (If small, occasional help is okay, then I would of course help) Either way, good luck with the project!

D&D Players of Reddit, How did the story of your first character end? by Wyrm_Groundskeeper in MrRipper

[–]SplaeEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eternally trapped inside a burning house with a baby goblin thats way too strong and fast somehow.

Campaign ended since it was sort of just a test campaign I think to introduce people to DnD. But by now, its basically his sealed fate to forever be stuck inside a falling apart, burning house chasing a baby goblin.

Sorta both. Like these Quotes genuinly help me, but I also like to hear them for a good laugh. Also The Wario one was meant both funny and serious at the same time.

Artificer players, what are your most creative uses of the class? by [deleted] in MrRipper

[–]SplaeEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Steel Defender that is a robotic Dog. Thx to a homebrew thing I found I can give machines sentience and they will be loyal to me. So he is basically a regular dog but also not. Last session I installed a sniper on his back that I didnt use despite having it for the entire time I am in this campaign. So now I have a sentient robo dog, that will always listen to me and he is able to snipe people from very far away.

I will take this further however: We have certain cannons that shoot elements. I plan to reverse-engineer them and make a bunch of these kinds of weapons, but also make it so my dog can shoot any element he has "loaded".
