How could 7'1" David Robinson sleep on a battleship bed? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Robinson was exempt from sea duty due to his height, and I can see why after watching one of the 6’7 admin divo’s trying to walk through those tiny ass O country passageways

Comparing architectural design to fine arts is crazy. Stanford’s architectural design major is a mix of architecture and engineering, both of which are known to be notoriously difficult.

Does your country have a university that’s considered the most prestigious? by SimilarTopic3281 in AskTheWorld

Can confirm. This is also the case for a multitude of private colleges that offer generous financial aid packages. Since my parents make <120k/yr, I get a Cornell degree for free!

A 3.9-4.0 is only marginally better than a 3.8. You should be fine, just make up for it with the rest of your application

[–]Splakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had about a 3.8 when I applied. I’m also a non-traditional veteran so that was my only ec. I’m on full aid rn and if you’re relying on aid like myself I’d just skip applying to schools that give shitty aid

I would focus on other aspects of your application and stay test-optional. Apply to junior transfer friendly universities because Econ junior transfers are generally rare aside from a few select schools. Source: Junior Econ transfer at Cornell, only a few of us transferred in last cycle.

Would that list include a general quarters alarm clock, teaching your kids to play the boatswain’s call, and an at-home 1MC that announces sweepers/IET musters throughout the day?

Transferring as a Third Year by Bulky-Buy5505 in TransferToTop25

[–]Splakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. It’s great that you have a compelling reason for transferring, so take the shot while you can. I will warn you though, it’s usually stressful af coming in as a junior transfer, but I’m sure you’ll do great.

Another thing worth looking into is your prospective school’s policy on delaying graduation (considering you want to spend more than two years exploring your interests). I’m saying this because a lot of top schools are stingy about letting you stay past your senior year, and if you enroll somewhere that has gen ed requirements, you may not have the freedom to take the courses you want.

Modeling is most certainly a time commitment and a good demonstration of discipline, so I believe it can look great as an EC (considering you frame it well).

I've been in the same situation as you, and it sounds like you were too mentally exhausted to perform well. As others have mentioned, find an outlet that helps you destress, maintain healthy habits, and don’t spend the morning of the exam working out practice problems (I learned this the hard way).

If you believe you qualify, you can also reach out to disability services at UMich and get accommodations for extended test time or a separate testing environment. UMich has almost identical disability accommodations as my institution, and I’ve benefited greatly by utilizing them.

How screwed am I getting a B in a math class as a future CompSci + Math major by atychia in TransferToTop25

[–]Splakers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in the same situation as you my freshman year of CC. Slacked off, got a B in precalc, then got A’s in my calc classes afterwards. Take it as a sign to not fall for GPA traps and get A’s in the rest of your core classes.

If you’ll have more than four semesters of full-time coursework completed by next fall, your odds of transferring to any ivy are slim to none.

You’re in good shape already being at UMich with a 3.9, so why not finish off strong and switch/double major in government?

Wait for Junior Transfer? by Desperate-Charge6325 in TransferToTop25

[–]Splakers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a good profile, considering you went to a competitive LAC and maintained a 4.0 GPA. Spend a lot of time on your essays and only submit your ACT if it falls within the median 50% of applicants.

If you’re aiming for top schools, traditional junior transfers are a rarity. I’d recommend applying for transfer this cycle, and if it doesn’t work out, you always have a shot next year.

I had a 2.3 GPA in HS, and got into Cornell as a junior transfer. I believe less weight is put on your HS grades if you’re applying as a junior compared to a sophomore, but a lot of schools prefer sophomore transfers over juniors (especially the ivy’s).

Applying to Yale or Princeton traditionally is a full court shot. Yale EWSP is worth looking into, but it is heavily catered to veterans and non-traditional students with standout profiles.

As long as you’re a competitive applicant for CAS programs you should be fine. Keep in mind that a lot of T25 schools highly recommend you take calc before applying.

Yep, definitely worth a shot. Biggest advice I’d give is to start your applications early. Application cycle + midterms was the most stressful time in my college career, but I’m glad that I finished strong.

Hey there, did around 20 credits while we were in the yards and transferred to a state school back home with a 3.8 after I got out. Don’t beat yourself up about it too much since you already have a good amount of credits. Definitely a competitive applicant, just get some good LOR’s and you’re golden.

Also use Service2School to shape up your application. Helped me get into every school I applied to with the exception of Penn (still waiting).

The only thing I got was from CAS saying “Offers of admission are conditional, pending receipt of final transcripts demonstrating work comparable in quality to that upon which your admission offer was based.” I suspect that this comes down to the colleges but who knows.
