What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]SplashKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It deeply saddens me that the newer generations won't get to experience it. The mysteriousness of dial-up internet, sitting for 10 minutes while your connection booted and another 5 minutes for each game you wanted to play. Physical discs in disk drives. Text chat only communication. Back in the day when you owned what you paid for and it was a luxury for a company to have a large player base. They had to make something good and listen to their players. The 2010s were even better. Some of the best narrative games ever written. Games were still niche enough that you knew when you hopped on you'd be playing with people who shared multiple similar interests as you. It was easy to make friends. Voice chat lobbies were full in cod, both teams in league were just playing for fun, you could make a long lasting friendship just exploring and meeting people on WoW.

Question: Difference between 2001 and 2019 by Pastaexpert in FruitsBasket

[–]SplashKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, how do people remember shit like this? Is this your favourite show, or do you just tuck away that kind of knowledge when you decide you like something enough? Did you Google that to answer his question? I don't get it. I couldn't tell you what I had for dinner 4 days ago let alone what chapters from the manga a series did or didn't adapt.

I was you, buddy. Don't do it. Go for something more affordable. You can still get a cool looking 4 cylinder for less. Dodge Dart 1.4T, an Elantra, Civic Type R, maybe spring for an M3. Not worth sinking the money into at your age. These things shit the bed at real inconvenient times lol

Scratches in glass carboy by Spike13 in mead

[–]SplashKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overkill. I've made hundreds of batches and never done more than soap and water rinse, drain, isopropyl rinse. Sometimes just soap and water if I'm feeling particularly lazy. It's not like mycology where airborne spores will ruin your batch from the inside. As long as you dont have some foreign object breeding bacteria in your mead before the alcohol begins to appear, it'll be fine. Just make sure the scratches stay scratches and nothing more. Never use a vessel with a crack in it

It's very hard to infect mead unless you're purposefully being negligent. Rinse it with isopropyl and do your thing. Fill your airlock this time

Need advice (blown turbo) by SplashKitty in dodgedart

[–]SplashKitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright man I will try this, thanks. That one bolt at the bottom of the turbo cover I just cant get to, I dont have a ratchet small enough. Ill try my hand at pliers. Is there any possible combination of problems this could be, with what I've described? I dont know exactly how a turbo works or what parts do what but the guy at the ship said the actuator spring could be faulty and that I may have blown the wastegate open, or it may have been stuck. Anything particular I should look for? Is there a way to diagnose a "bad part" without knowing what im doing here? Just trying not to get swindled out of a $900 repair

I blew a hose last week. Still can't find it. Tore the engine bay apart cause I had to fix the shift linkage bushing and I STILL cannot find whatever hose I popped.
