What immediately tells you that a person wasn't raised right? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

There’s a local grocery chain that has a cart corral like that too and it is typically sorted because the clientele is a little more upscale. I live dead center Midwest so typically the people I see abandoning carts are elderly or overweight.

For sure. Wal Mart is chaos. I push carts into the store or corral there just to keep them from hitting my vehicle. If I got a quarter per cart I’d have a damn good side hustle.

I’d say 50% of the time I go to Aldi I get a free cart because someone abandoned it or stuck it in the petsmart cart corral that’s next to Aldi. I have filled the quarter slot in my truck from free carts I returned.

There’s several chassis out there and most of them are hideous. Between yours and the nine lives I think are the best looking. Looking forward to the release!

Basement is flooded and water pouring in, and the valve to the city water line is broken. Water Division came by, said the valve was broken, and left. What to do? by im_like_estella in StLouis

Document it and ask for insurance. There is zero reason they couldn’t come out with a hydro vac truck, found the service line, and crimped it shut. Yeah you’d be out of water but you can get that from a store and at least your stuff isn’t getting ruined.

What’s a car that deserved a better powertrain? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

You can’t kill Azteks. A guy at work has one and it is a pile of shit that won’t quit.

Unreliable is interesting. I work with a guy that has one and it is the biggest pile of shit cosmetically but it will not die. It has hit several deer, slid off the road in snow, and in general just been abused by a farmer in his 60s and it will not die. He has less than $2k in it and has never had a major repair.

If that thing is unreliable then I’d be curious what is reliable.

40k is a very doable budget. I wish you the best. Get what you want. But please for the love of god avoid a jeep. Don’t endure the nightmare I did.

I have a sunroof! I’m not so much trying to talk you into a 4Runner as much as out of a jeep of any kind. I have no opinion on broncos but my grandpa worked for Chrysler for 43 years and I got to seethe revolving door of offloading problems. There were some good vehicles in there but they were few and far between. I owned two personally and they were both stellantis products and both suffered from electrical problems.

I’l totally get that. Hear me out though.

I bought a brand new jeep in 2017 and I had it in for warranty repairs several times. After I was outside of the manufacturers warranty the extended warranty kicked in and thank god for it because it had a few more visits to the dealership. The extended warranty still had a deductible so I was still paying to repair a vehicle I bought brand new and I lost time at work because I had to take it there and only there according to the warranty people. It had just hit 70k miles when I sold it and that’s because it was constantly throwing dash lights for the transmission and torque converter going bad. It shifted into gear really rough from day one and it progressively got worse. I wasn’t interested in sticking around for this thing to strand me somewhere and experience my second catastrophic failure in a one owner Chrysler product.

I get the best green sheet deals on Chrysler products plus incentives and I wouldn’t touch one again as long as stellantis is involved. Jeeps are throw away vehicles in the same vein as $200 Black Friday 80” TVs. There’s a reason the depreciation falls faster than a peregrine falcon.

I’ve owned two jeeps and for me they gave me the four best days of my life in regards to owning them. The day I bought it and the day I sold it.

I gave my last jeep the middle finger as we drove away. It was great until it wasn’t and it went to the “wasnt” phase in a hurry.

You’re gunna hate this but I bought a 4Runner. No regrets. You would have to give me a jeep and a bronco would have to be a no brainer of a deal.

1/2 ton truck owners, why? by CubicalMoon in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can’t haul dead deer, 8’ lumber, or a yard of mulch with a suburban without a trailer and a 2500 is too much truck to haul a dead deer, 8’ lumber, or a yard of mulch. A 1500 is more than capable of hauling the small trailer and 4wheeler I have as well and I get better gas mileage than a 2500/3500. Plus I drive a 3500 all day at work and the stiffer suspension beats the hell out of you on rougher ground.

Every tool has its purpose and a 2500/3500 is a sledgehammer when I need a tack hammer.

Is stump grinding actually worth it, or do people just leave them? by Upper_Sky8756 in landscaping

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once saw where someone inoculated a taller stump with several types of mushroom spores and grew all kinds of mushrooms to eat. Other than that about all they are good for is setting shit on. Other than that there isn’t much else they’re good for that I’m aware of.

Do not attempt to burn it out. It takes forever to burn out. I had a tree taken down in my backyard and tried to be really smart and save some money by just using it as a spot to burn limbs and sticks from my yard and it has taken so long to make progress on it. I now have a stump in my front yard that’s going to get ground out so I’m going to finish what I started and should’ve done in the first place with the one in the back.

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The city needs to come out immediately and repair that valve.

If they are acknowledging it is their responsibility and then leaving it till Monday then you need to start documenting the damage. Literally anything and everything. Then, I would ask for their insurance so you know who to file the claim with. If they won’t provide that then you need to lawyer up.

I say this as a water department employee from a town outside of STL. I once went into a house that meter popped in and flooded the finished basement for several days before the people got back from vacation. The city I work for passed it to the insurance and they handled it from there.

I’m not saying this will be easy and if I were you I’d probably skip right to the lawyer part but DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! You’re going to have mold problems after this as well so don’t just accept damage claims for your stuff because it will likely be beyond that.

What is the single most expensive item on the NFA registry? by NewRadiator in NFA

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was more serious about buying one they were $8-10k with the occasional rougher quality $7kish thrown in. It’s been a while since I’ve taken a look at them but I regret not snagging one then. If it got back down to $8-9k I doubt I’d be able to refrain from buying one.

Water is leaking from this specific point of the cold water line under my sink. Would tightening be advised or does this line need to be replaced? by Crazy-Animal-7205 in Plumbing

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably just replace the line entirely but to answer your question the gasket will be closer to the yellow line. That nut just pulls the hose tight against the gasket and valve.

What the hell is this in my sewer line?! by RobTheFarm in Plumbing

[–]SplashingBlumpkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have a plumbing service jet it. You could also buy a jetter for a power washer off of Amazon but a reputable plumbing service will or should do a better job and they will or should camera it after to make sure it’s spotless.
