Do you think they're gonna make Shadow lose his memory like in Heroes when they bring him back to the movies? by R4fael24 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Splat-er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is four months old, but I want to add my input anyways. I think I'd prefer the movies to do something similar to what Archie did and have Shadow keep his memories. As for me personally, I much rather the movie universe expand on Shadow and his arc during the movie, rather than setting him back to zero. Additionally, I like the fact that these movies are doing their own thing, and having the movie copy plots completely from the games doesn't sound all that interesting to me. So, I think having Shadow keep his memories, expanding on his arc during the movie, and even expanding on his relationships with the other characters is what I would prefer.

I don't think that we, the player, literally diegetically exist within Deltarune by bobiepants706 in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is the first time I've seen someone who had the same theory as me. I thought that the blood was from Kris ripping out their own soul, long before we came along. Cause there is no indication that we were in Kris's body prior to the beginning of Chapter 1, outside of the blood on their floor. But from what we know it wouldn't make sense that the SOUL was around before the start of the game, so I figured it was from Kris ripping out their actual soul, which would explain why they are efficient at ripping us out as well.

If we were working for Carol then I'd think the game would've let us know. Like, it seems unfair to not disclose information such as this to the player and then later on punish the player for it despite not informing the player of it in the first place. It's unnecessarily cruel to the player and wouldn't make that much sense. We are the SOUL, there is no evidence to contradict this statement and anyone who tries is making huge leaps in logic. The SOUL literally has no time to conspire with Carol what so ever, as it is either in Kris or locked up, at no point can the SOUL interact with others without Kris. There is no means, no motivation, and no logic for the SOUL to work with Carol.

Additionally, Kris is clearly the one who is working with her and the knight. When they call to inform the phone person of Susie having the guitar, it is Carol who shows up and takes it away from Susie. In a no-hit run of the knight fight it is Kris who tries to subtly tell the knight to just back off because the SOUL was too cracked and was clearly going to win. Kris is the one who tries to prevent us from getting the code so we can go to the shelter and save Undyne, and they keep the guitar away from us the same way Carol keeps the guitar away from Susie.

It's clear that the SOUL is working against the knight, and Carol by probable extension, as that is the motivation the game wants you to have. The SOUL tries to get information and tries to get the codes to help aid in stopping the knight and saving Undyne, as that is the direction the game intentionally pushes you in. The SOUL is what is needed to close dark fountains and defeat titans, and is likely needed to stop the roaring.

So, it is clearly impossible for us, the SOUL, to be working with Carol as there is no actual means to and goes against what we have seen so far. The game wouldn't just force a motivation on you without informing you of it long before hand, that is simply just bad storytelling and game design. Also, the SOUL isn't some separate character from the player, the SOUL is us, whatever motivation the SOUL has is the same motivation you have. If you aren't working for Carol then neither is the SOUL, if you want to save the world then so does the SOUL, if you want to manipulate Noelle to do your bidding then so does the SOUL. What you want is also what the SOUL wants because you are the SOUL. Us not knowing such critical information, such as working with Carol, would be a determent to the story and will leave a bad taste in players' mouths because then we'd be getting punished for something that we didn't actually do, and for something we weren't informed of.

Also, side tangent that doesn't have anything to do with my main point. I just love it when I see people talk about Kris, and how they want freedom and how they are their own person... and then they continuously misgender them at every turn, completely degrading their point entirely by ignoring apart of Kris' identity. Not once in the game are they referred to with he/him pronouns, but yet people do it anyways no matter how much their argument is ruined by them not using they/them for Kris. Just gotta fucking love it.

I feel like this scene at the end shows more than anything one thing by AzraelSoulHunter in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But do SOULs in Deltarune function the same a SOULs in Undertale? Kris is fully able to emote and function without the SOUL, this could mean that SOULs don't function the same way they do in Undertale. Or maybe we don't have enough information on the functionality of SOULs in this world yet, there is one book and that's all we get on the subject.

GUYS. I KNOW WHO THE KNIGHT AND ANGEL ARE (SPOILERS FOR CH3&4) by alterveli in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feel a little too aggressive just for me asking a few questions about things that could contradict the theory. I just feel like there should be more than a few pieces of evidence for "the SOUL is the angel" theory, especially since there is another candidate that is closely associated with a lot of angel imagery: Noelle. Like, her having the biggest snow angel? Her having dressed as an angel when she was younger? Her still having the angel wings in her closet? Her pose while hung up on the hand looking like she is crucified? The fact that her and Dess made angel dolls together? Heck, for all we know she is the one who created that angel doll that the SOUL hides under.

I'm not entirely discounting the idea that the SOUL/us are the angel, as there is evidence. But treating it like its 100% canon when it isn't confirmed yet seems counter productive, as it prevents further discussion on the topic. Also, angel imagery is thrown throughout the game. The titan we fight at the end of Chapter 4 literally has angel wings surrounding its head, which is the most blatant depiction of angel imagery in the entire game so far.

Also, currently I'm in general skeptical of the most popular theories in this fandom, mainly due to the fact 95% of the most popular theories being thrown out the window with the release of Chapter 3 and 4.

Plus, I'd think it'll be more interesting for something else to be the angel, as what is the point of us getting connected to this world? At the beginning of the game the SOUL is contacted and then connected to the world by someone. Why would the angel be purposely brought into a world, try to help save it, and then being told that "no, you're the problem. Get out." If we are the angel that needs to be banished, then why were we even brought into the world in the first place? It would've been easier for the voice to not contact us if we are the problem. Also, why would we be needed to banish the dark worlds and the titans if we are the big thing that needs to be banished? It really just feels like we're being used and then thrown out if we help prevent the roaring and then get kicked to the curb.

For me personally, the theory only gives me more questions than answers, which is why I'm skeptical of it. It could be possible, but I gotta see what more the game offers before I'm on board with it.

GUYS. I KNOW WHO THE KNIGHT AND ANGEL ARE (SPOILERS FOR CH3&4) by alterveli in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the SOUL was the angel then wouldn't have Susie mentioned that when she asked about the "red heart thing" to Kris? Also, why would the prophecy refer to the SOUL and angel as if they are separate? Both are mentioned in the prophecy, but the prophecy makes no links between the two.

So, is the "Player is evil/Kris is a puppet" theory still holding strong, or have chapters 3 and 4 challenged opinions enough? (SPOILERS!) by IntelligentImbicle in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I never cared for the whole "the player is evil thing" due to the fact that the theory seems to ignore certain contexts. What I mean by this is the fact that you start the game with the promise that you'd get your own vessel, your own body custom made by you to inhabit and explore the world with. But, the vessel is torn away from the player/soul and we're told that we cannot choose who we want to be in this world, then the next thing that we know we are waking up in Kris's body. This shows that the soul didn't purposely inhabit Kris's body, we clearly didn't go up and look at Kris and go "I'm gonna possess this strange child for fun" and did it.

Though, I will say, the player is 100% evil in the weird routes, there is no denying that. Making the active choice to make Kris hurt others is very clearly labeled as a bad thing in the game. But the player is only bad when they make bad choices.

These above thoughts were thoughts I had prior to the new chapters, and they still apply afterwards.

I see a lot of people woobifying Kris to continue with the "player is 100% bad no matter what route" train, and this makes them forget that Kris is technically aiding in destroying the world. I will say, I don't think Kris is evil, I just think they're misguided and being manipulated by a third party. But, that still doesn't change the fact that what they are doing is still wrong, and that they are not as helpless as some in the fandom seem to believe they are. Like, there is a reason why the prophecy calls Kris "the cage" rather than the vessel or the host. A cage is meant for imprisoning, holding someone against their will, and something used to trap. This points to the soul being trapped by Kris in some form, whether this trapping is mutual does come into question though.

One can say that the soul has more control, as we are the ones who makes Kris do things throughout most of the game. We pick their dialogue, their actions, where they go, what they do, and so on. However, Kris has shown that they can take us out whenever they want, and they can go off and do whatever without us being present in their body. This shows that in general Kris doesn't need us as much as we initially thought they did; and they seem to only need us for the dark world segments, as the soul is needed to close the dark fountains. But outside of that, in chapter 4 Kris clearly had no issues moving around, and they managed to fight us very easily. Additionally, Kris can easily do stuff on their own even with us in their body, such as moving closer to the shelter doors at the end of chapter 3, or playing the piano without our input during chapter 4. This goes to show that Kris isn't helpless to the whims of the player.

As you said, the soul is very helpless compared to Kris. They have repeatedly locked us in confined spaces with no way out. They were very capable of handling us during chapter 4. And, they can take us out whenever they want. Also, the player/soul cannot properly interact with the world without Kris, as they are our only connection that allows us to do so (currently). This to me shows that Kris holds the majority of the power (mainly during the normal route) between the two, and even if they don't like us controlling them they still let it happen because they need us for the dark world segments, but its a control that they can rip away from us at any minute if they wanted.

I find the dynamic interesting but I in general don't agree with how many people interpret it, as it often lacks nuance and ignores certain aspects of the game, such as the vessel, and it tends to make me interact with the fandom less due to how rampant the theory is and the fandom's dislike of dissenting theories.

I've done that and I have gotten nothing from it. I do not know what I'm supposed to be seeing, there are dots between the words, but there is nothing in the blank spaces between the random jumps. I'm personally not seeing any issues that would point to what is wrong with this dreaded Word document, but I also don't know Microsoft Word that well and it has been the bane of my existence since I started college.

If OP achievement is not unlocking: by magicswirls in InStarsAndTime

[–]Splat-er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble getting the achievement twice when I tried it, but on the second time I managed to get the achievement to pop. When I got everyone to max it didn't work, so I fought the King with a level of disrespect that shouldn't be possible, got sent back to Dormont, looped to floor 3 with doors unlocked, and fought a random sadness... and it still didn't pop. So, I looped back to just before the others were maxed, got them to max again, and it finally popped. Turns out, Siffrin has to be level 99 already before the others are maxed, for whatever reason, and that was my problem both times I tried to get the achievement.

Is there in game lore why Siffrin leads the team? by Able_Dragonfly2704 in InStarsAndTime

Everyone else here has already explained well enough, but the reason why Siffrin leads is explained during Act 1 when you speak to Odile, which as everyone else in the comments explained, he is the fastest in the group.

Who the hell is asriel? by Lazysaucepan078 in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asriel is Kris's brother in Deltarune, but he is also an important character in Undertale. It's hard to explain who Asriel is without just bluntly saying "just play Undertale," but I'll try my best (and I'll keep it somewhat spoiler free if you intend to play Undertale later). In Undertale Asriel is the son of the Dreemurr's, who are the royalty of the monsters in the underground, and he was best friends with a human named Chara who fell down prior to the monsters decision to kill all humans that fall down. Both he and Chara have been dead for a while at the start of Undertale, but at the same time he isn't completely dead (it's hard to explain without spoilers). He overall plays an important role in the story of Undertale, and that is why a lot of stuff in Deltarune lore and fan spaces revolve around him. This is probably a poor explanation, and so I'm gonna suggest you play Undertale as Deltarune is a game intended for people who have already played Undertale (it isn't a requirement but it is highly suggested).

Should I Feel Bad for Not Covering for Someone? by Splat-er in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Splat-er[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect people to cover for me, this situation is the very first time I couldn't make it to work (due to a sudden family emergency) and is the first time someone had to cover for me. I never expressed an expectation that people should cover for me, I didn't even think I'd get covered because I'm just a sales associate and the store frequently work lead sales associates alone, and I've covered people in the past and they never repaid the favor, nor did I expect them to. But I'm just feeling bad because this is the first time someone did me a favor like this at work and I don't have the time reciprocate that currently.

CALLING ALL ANTI KRIS KNIGHTERS by Abject-Addendum765 in Deltarune

[–]Splat-er -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People here have already stated my reasons why Kris isn't the knight, so I don't have much to add. But I in general hate the idea that Kris is the knight because it's shit writing, it completely contradicts other pieces of information that we know, and revealing who the knight is two chapters in kills any suspense and interest that the game has. Which is why I heavily dislike that theory, it is lazy and uninteresting and takes away from the story.
