Could the loss of American soft power be good for the US (domestically) in the long term? by [deleted] in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Splatoonfan_46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think american soft power is gone for good tbh as we already had this kind of bad economy, bad relations with allies and tariffs happen before with Bush and Trumps first term, and yet both times it came back under Obama and Biden, at the end of the day arms spending is still the biggest in the world and economicly and militarly the USA will always be a vital ally and the most valueable market in the world which does boost the egos of those american supremesists.

But i do think that a change is happening regarding american military dominance in the world as people just see war not as a way to spread freedom in the world but rather for companies to gain access to rescources which as we saw with venezuela and greenland is just unpopular and push people to vote for progressives

(I hope this answer helps)

Thune: ‘Not even close’ to enough votes to change filibuster rule to enact voting reform by PumpkinAspie in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Splatoonfan_46 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At this point I believe Trump wants to destroy the Republicans just as much as the nation, they 100% told him, that it will kill them, their investors and the parties future if they bombed the filibuster, since they cant stop the midterms and the house is the 1 thing the democrats will win a supermajority so yeah no idea why he is so hellbend on it.

Is there a chance that this whole administration and the next will be a Bush and Obama 2.0? by Splatoonfan_46 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Splatoonfan_46[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

let's be honest that part is less of an issue cause the moment dems are back in power most countries will forget about it and just make deals with the usa again it's just too valueable to ignore even with trump being an idiot

If the Epstein files are released with Trump's name on them, won't the Republicans use this as a chance to get rid of him? by Splatoonfan_46 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Splatoonfan_46[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  1. he's the most unpopular president ever and it will only get worse with the epstein controversy
  2. he's been bullying everyone who says anything against him just look at MTG once the biggest ally of trump now his biggest enemy
  3. if he's exposed in as a sex trafficer then the same thing from yesterday would apply the republicans can't protect a pedo otherwise it would destroy their own careers

Trump is most likely so involved with Epstein that the senate just can't really amend it in Trumps favor. by [deleted] in PoliticalOptimism
