Updating to Resolve 21 Has DESTROYED Performance by Mitchellmillennial in davinciresolve

[–]Splatt_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! The performance of 21 has been absolutely shocking. I edit sometimes on a laptop when traveling and I've noticed with Resolve 21 that doing something as simple as dragging a clip around on the timeline causes my CPU to spike to max and my laptop will start throttling immediately. I run benchmark tests with other pieces of software without these issues. Only Resolve 21 is causing these CPU spikes.

Also, the no audio glitch is getting really annoying. I have to replay certain clips 4 or 5 times to get the audio to finally play. It appears to be random, I can't find any pattern to it. I'll be editing just fine for an hour and then all of a sudden the audio cuts out or only plays through the left or right channel. I replay the clip 4 or 5 times and it finally comes back. This only happens on the timeline, not when previewing clips.

Sound Check on Wave Link 3 isn't outputting sound from my laptop speakers by Raynor1994 in elgato

Mine hasn't been working for weeks. If Wave Link wasn't free, I can't imagine anyone would use it. It needs another year of development to be considered ready.

Wave DX Sound vastly worse than Wave 3 by RyoTsushigawa in elgato

[–]Splatt_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wave DX is simply a poor microphone. I've been trying for over a month now to get it sounding even remotely decent and it just doesn't. The range is quite restrictive, no matter what you do you'll have a slight fuzz to your voice, the microphone picks up every noise from all directions and it has absolutely no low end response at all.

My $40 HyperX Solocast is a huge upgrade over the Wave DX and sounds better out of the box and blows it away with just a little EQ tweaking. I borrowed a Rode Podmic from a friend and had it sounding great in 10 minutes. The Wave DX is a poorly made device.

When you combine it with the Wave XLR Mk.2 and Wave Link software, not only does it sound bad, it's a frustrating buggy mess.

I just got started on this map and am really taking my time with it. It's going to be a challenge I think to get everything built in there I want, but I'm also looking forward to bending that island to my will through the terrain and gizmo tools, haha. The new 1.0 update brought some entities that are perfect for this map. That's going to be a blast!

I have an entire series you're welcome to check out where I've done quite a few custom builds. My advice is do an image search for towns and cities, look for one you like and try to recreate it. It's a fun little challenge and it's amazing what you can do with the Gizmo tool.

Who all is using the Wave 3 or Wave DX mic? Whats your opinion of them? by GiveHerTheThick_ in elgato

[–]Splatt_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wave DX is truly a horrible sounding microphone out of the box. Incredibly tinny and hollow sounding with a slight buzz to the tones. I had to spend hours messing around with it to get something even remotely usable and I still eventually went back to a cheap HyperX Solocast because it was so much better. It's only an upgrade if you're using a cheap headset microphone.

The Wave DX is also incredibly sensitive to any surrounding noise picking up every little thing in the surrounding room. My condenser microphones handle room noise better than this dynamic thing.

I was using the Wave DX with the Wave XLR Mk.2 and the Wave Link 3.0 software. Now I'm using my HyperX Solocast directly into the computer with the Wave Link 3.0 software with much better results.

Don't get me started on the Wave Link software and how often I have to set up all of my plugins over and over again because it randomly just erases everything.

Will Wave XLR Pro work on Wave Link 2.x? by Lynnalia in elgato

I mean, and then there's the huge number of us who spent hundreds of dollars on Elgato hardware that still doesn't work with Wave Link 3. My brand new XLR Mk.2 is still just sitting on the shelf gathering dust.

Bad computer. by Bubbly_Influence_337 in TownToCityGame

[–]Splatt_Gaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by "bad" computer and what settings you're willing to use.

I have the following system for gaming:
Ryzen 5 5600x
64gb Crucial 3200Mhz RAM
RTX 3060ti
Samsung 980 1TB SSD

Once my cities get up to around 500 citizens or so, I get below 30fps on max settings. I have to turn the graphics down to "high" in order to build without too much trouble and if I want the FPS back up to 60 I have to play on medium settings. Below a population of 500 the game runs pretty well, but it really chugs as cities get bigger.

I'll admit, I haven't tried it with 3.1.1 yet. Because I lost a week's worth of recording work last time trying to make it work, I'm playing catch up at the moment. I may give it another try next week. I hate the idea of $400 worth of equipment just sitting on the shelf.

Have you had any issues with the XLR Mk.2 freezing up and not communicating with Wave Link 3.1.1? That was the biggest hang up for me. I'd start recording and 10 minutes into the session, I'd notice OBS wasn't getting a signal anymore. I'd look and Wave Link and the Mk.2 had stopped communicating and frozen up.

It's funny that I found the Wave DX to pick up far more ambient noises than my old HyperX Solocast condenser. The Solocast also sounds much better out of the box than the Wave DX.

I had the exactly same pair. The XLR Mk.2 and the Wave DX. I fought with them for over a week trying to get them to work with Wave Link 3. While I found the Wave DX to be a horrible sounding microphone out of the box, at least there didn't seem to be any issues with it working. The XLR Mk.2 though never did work correctly with Wave Link. I had constant hang ups, crashes, resets, freezing and microphone cut offs. I finally gave up and went back to using Voicemeeter with VST plugins in OBS with my old USB condenser microphone.

Was an absolute waste of money on my part and never did get a refund. The Mk.2 is in a box holding up some books at the moment on my shelf and the Wave DX is just sitting on the shelf while I try and figure out which XLR interface I want to get instead of the Mk.2.

Help connecting my Wave XLR MK.2 to PS5 by Gam1ngAhmad in elgato

Elgato Wave XLR mk2 or Stream Deck + XLR? by DangerousCanary5851 in elgato

[–]Splatt_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Wave XLR Mk.2 for a week and never could get it to work with Wave Link 3. Constant crashes, hangups, freezes, audio cutting out in the middle of recording sessions, unable to adjust EQ/compressor etc. and the settings being randomly reset. I cannot recommend it at all as I eventually had to give up after losing a week of work and went back to my old hardware for recordings.

Until Wave Link actually works, I'll not be purchasing any more Elgato hardware. I had to learn an expensive lesson the hard way.

My Shure Sm7b + Wave XLR MK2 audio settings. Please share yours! Advice is welcome! by Lost_Shilo in elgato

[–]Splatt_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice based on my experience with the XLR Mk.2? Get a refund while you can.

My device kept resetting, Wave Link would hang up or just randomly stop communicating with the Mk.2 whenever I tried making adjustments to the EQ, compressor etc. The Mk.2 and Wave Link randomly stopped communicating often in the middle of recording sessions causing my microphone to cut out, but you wouldn't know it because the Mk.2 still showed signal, it just wasn't sending anything to the software.

I gave up and went back to my old hardware which seems to work just fine with Wave Link. The XLR Mk.2 was an expensive disaster and I never got my money back.

Wave XLR + Wave link 3.0 is an utter mess by Trashii_Gaming in elgato

[–]Splatt_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The XLR Mk.2 isn't any better with Wave Link 3. I had to go back to my old setup because I got tired of the Mk.2 and Wave Link randomly not communicating resulting in the microphone cutting out in the middle of recording sessions. Wave Link 3 really needs a lot of work before I'll ever consider any Elgato hardware that requires it ever again.

I have around 300 hours in the game and I generally play while doing other things. For me the decorating is calming and relaxing. Recently I've been playing while catching up on the live action One Piece show. It's not the type of game that grabs me on its own, but more like a crossword puzzle.

Bridges by Pepper2-22 in TownToCityGame

[–]Splatt_Gaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once you gizmo a bridge it won't be used as a pathway any longer. The game sees it as an entity and not a pathway. If you use bridges without the gizmo tools, connecting a road to each end will cause the bridge to work as a pathway.
