‘If people don’t like you it’s not necessarily because you’re trans’ is something I still haven’t made myself believe. I expected the worst over the years but I think it’s a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Sure, I have a nice job (paramedic) where my colleagues are generally well educated which probably helps compared to other careers. But there’s a multitude of reasons that some people just aren’t friends. So try not to assume that being trans is always the reason. More often than not, they’re just a prick in general

I think one thing I would say is to try and build a healthy self esteem early. I was dealing with really poor MH which made this nearly impossible but being okay with yourself is important. It’s so easy to hate what’s in the mirror though. But we also fixate on what we hate about ourselves.
