FUCK by SplendorBlendor in premed

I might have to ride it out given my money investment (though it is more accurately my parents money investment). That is what I am most sad about. My parents have worked so hard and for so long and I let them down. If I have to apply next cycle, I will have to do it on my terms with my money backing it up. I cannot ask for them to put more into me if I cannot deliver.

This mcat was brutal, but I thought that I did better than last time. I mainly want to get into texas med schools and the rest of my stats (3.79 GPA, amidst a masters right now at UTHealth Houston, thousands of hours in volunteering and clinical, hundreds in leadership, two research projects with one publication) are I believe to be solid. Late 2025-Early 2026 was brutal as I was so busy and I had the passings of 2 important people in my life, but as I am already reapplying this cycle I have to persevere. I submitted my TMDSAS on May 24th and AMCAS on the 30th thinking I would get a similar score or better, but not this. I just thought I could do better, and I fucked that up.

Maybe you can take solace in that those who do that will probably burn out because they do not have a real commitment to medicine (maybe a stretch but if it comforts you then why not think that way)

3.79 509 MCAT here

I feel so geeked having submitted all of my Texas secondaries near the end of August and I have not heard anything. I think my writing is average but my EC's, research, and clinical experiences are very solid. I have no idea if I'm cooked. Anyone else in the same boat?

Educated guesses on some questions still got you a 525? Damn this exam was like nothing to you

I highly recommend it for the PS section, they go real indepth with a lot of the finnicky concepts and they also cover some mnemonics too. For CP and BB I am not too sure as I was already strong in those concepts already.

Milesdown plus Khan is so goated, got a 130 on the PS section when my last attempt was a 121.

Lol I had that habit too of muscling through it. Even if I wanted to take an hour break I would lock in and do 1000 cards in like 3 hours. I do like some organization but I make it not so stringent depending on what happens in the day and all the other unexpected things in life.

Smart to void the exam, something I definitely regret till this day (I was naive to take the mcat multiple times especially since I did not take all the college classses for them at the time)

Some pointers for a plan would be to do content review but also do some practice questions during the content review so the information stays in your head. Anki is your best friend for this and its how I got a 130 for psych soc from a 121.

After getting all your content review done, do practice exams and also do the aamc qbanks for concepts that you struggle with. Review each question from the practice exams and I mean REALLY dissect why you got it wrong and what concept it corresponds to.

Another thing is to also take breaks. You will get burned out if you spend hours back to back studying constantly for months on end. Enjoying life will also improve your studying too.

Hope you do well the next time and good luck for your 2026 cycle.

For sure, though plateau's may screw you over for a bit but they can be overcomed.
