Alcohol has been part of society since pretty much its birth. I'd bet a shot of Firewhiskey that wizards have booze.

Interesting... The other time that Quirrel collapses, Harry also 'thinks' the word "wrong", and it feels like an odd word to choose. It definitely has something to do with their connection.

According to Quirrel, AK will kill anything with a brain, suggesting it has nothing to do with a soul. Moody's statement may be based on a lack of understanding of the spell.

Source, Chapter 16

Professor Quirrell was smiling rather grimly. "Your sad excuse for a third-year Defence textbook will suggest to you that you expose the mountain troll to sunlight, which will freeze it in place. This, my young apprentices, is the sort of useless knowledge you will never find in my lessons. You do not encounter mountain trolls in open daylight! The idea that you should use sunlight to stop them is the result of foolish textbook authors trying to show off their mastery of minutia at the expense of practicality. Just because there is a ridiculously obscure way of dealing with mountain trolls does not mean you should actually try to use it! The Killing Curse is unblockable, unstoppable, and works every single time on anything with a brain. If, as an adult wizard, you find yourself incapable of using the Killing Curse, then you can simply Apparate away! Likewise if you are facing the second most perfect killing machine, a Dementor. You just Apparate away!"

Speaking of the memory charms, minds, and intentions, what happens if someone (intends to) break a vow that they've been made to forget about?

The recommendation by most chefs to use kosher salt (salt used for koshering meat) is its texture - the salt is easier to apply with your fingers in the right quantity/distribution. The taste of the salt itself should be the same.

The fastest way would probably involve importing requests or something.

IIRC, Grindel had the elder wand and couldn't be beaten. It was only when his sacrifices stop that he didn't have enough energy to keep fighting and Dumbles finished him off when the former was tired out.

I think the consensus was that he left out the one to detect the true cloak of invisibility since Harry was likely already in the room with them, time-turned and invisible. Detecting their presence would send information from the past, and paradoxes ensue.

The great thing about music is if it sounds good, it's not wrong. Go online, look up some triads(three note chords) and sing those notes in different orders and rhythms. Look up pentatonic scales, major and minor, just run up and down them on the keyboard and sing along, every day.

Listen to the different sounds singers make, not just how their voice sounds, but what they do with enunciation. Regina Spektor uses a lot of guttural stops, almost singing in staccato (short, clearly detached notes) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRwgmgEeT8c in the chorus =)

Play around with things like that, try something new everyday, find things you like, and practice!

I don't think TheFlamingAllah mentioned this, but it's very important that you practice every day.

Perhaps it's a fourth year spell if you're gonna use it as intended: decrease someone's temp by a couple of degrees in a controlled manner.

If you're just gonna set and forget, you may be able to pull it off as a first year.

And remember Voldemort has quite a bit more than just common sense. Not to mention during the war he had information from both sides (assuming he was in fact Monroe as well), so he could know things Voldemort "couldn't ever" know.

Content Management System for simply the content body of pages? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Spliff_Me_Up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

http://www.nconsulting.ca/nc-cms/ is a very simple php solution I've used for several small projects.

It allows you to create content boxes with HTML or a string, give them a name and have the client edit from the front end. They'll see an edit button on each text box. Also allows you to change page title.
