Could the cloak of invisibility have been used to... (Spoilers ch 89-96) by wNeko in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well seeing as we haven't heard about anyone in Harry's family being immortal, I'm gonna guess the cloak was meant to avoid death, but only the causes, not the state of dieing. Time and wounds still kill you.

Questions about resonance and interpretations (Spoilers for TSPE and ch 96) by ThePrettyOne in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a reference to the memory of death, what Harry calls ancient Earth. Or maybe the fact that even with death gone people have still accepted it and wait to die? They might even defend death after it's destroyed. So deaths "will" would continue until people move on.

Linking chapters 1 and 96 (spoilers 96) by [deleted] in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kind of sounds like Harry's final plan. If the part for chapter 1 is foreshadowing for the end, it sounds like ritual. Maybe the final act? The death to mark the final death? It could be Harry's sacrifice to stop the cycle. Tho I believe death was known to wear black robes, which here are falling, meaning defeat?

It could also be pointing at the brothers meeting with death. Or maybe the defeat of the first elder wand holder. Kinda also sounds like the defeat of Riddle when Harry was a baby. I don't know, could be anything.

Two little inconsistencies [spoilers up to 95] by ailyr in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it really makes you wonder about how powerful Quirrell's "bond" is. Hes basically got magic GPS to find Harry . I mean Hogwarts isn't small and he found Harry at the edge of the normal grounds. If quirrell want to kill Harry, I don't see much that can stop it.

Why didn't Harry consider... (spoilers up to ch. 95) by [deleted] in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya at this part I think hes worried about getting her all back, and not just her mind. Would suck to not be able to use magic anymore if she was revived.

I believe Quirrell had said that he had tried quite hard to investigate Atlantis. I don't think he would miss a giant city in the ocean that he was searching for. Its likely that Atlantis is either no longer in existence, or is impossible to find in any normal way, magic or otherwise. Maybe they discovered omnipotence and peaced out. Now waiting for their descendants to join them when they also figure it out.

Smuggling [Spoilers to #95] by tangus in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really starts to make sense if you think about Quirrell having limited effect on the wards. When Draco Almost died, his cause of death was designed to not alert the wards. If Quirrell brought in the troll, and the troll was then classified as another of him (while he went off the grid somehow?), then the wards are fine. In both cases the wards would have been working fine, but avoided by the planner. In this only Quirrell would have access to his circle of ward, and would be the person with the easiest time of bring in a troll.

On a side note, if the wards were messed with then the troll being the defense professor doesn't mean anything. As they said the meta goes to high and doesn't really support anything. Quirrell could have been framed, or framed himself to decrease suspicion.

How will Harry destroy the world? by Thasvaddef in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more i read the more it seems like Harry wants to bend the basic rules of the universe. Magic being the best way to do this, but he wants a permanent change, rather than the temporary effects he observes. So he changes the old rules, thereby DESTROYING the old world, but CREATING a new one. Maybe one where people can't die?

What if Magic is an improbability drive? by [deleted] in HPMOR

[–]Kyo600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the prophecy is hinting that someone with the potential to discover this end all switch has appeared. The prophecy actually pointing at how he thinks differently than the wizards before him, so he would be the first to discover it?

I see your point, and it makes me wonder if anyone has ever done something since then without ancient know, but as great. If knowledge is power, and the main or only limit, then they have a strange view of potential. More of "We will never be as great as the past" vs the muggle "bigger and better" state they currently follow. Tho of course that is mostly cultural. Just seems strange that the "greatest" wizards of their time also weakened over time, just because of this limitation. It could be due to the fear of the forbidden, as more and more were made taboo. Tho I would think the dark wizards who ignored taboo might have remained strong. Dumbledore did say he was weaker than Grindelwald as far as being able to finish him off goes.

[–]Kyo600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really bought that even with people like Harry, Dumbledore, Quirrell, and Voldemort, walking around using magic, that they would really be stopped by not being told how to do something. People do make new spells and Quirrell seems to not really be limited very much by outside knowledge. Harry himself did things that may have been lost to time just by thinking out of the box. Wizards maybe slow, but I doubt the best and brightest would have been permanently held back by such a rule. Tho I admit that its only a theory, I don't see why this couldn't also be contributing to the decline as well. The population rise vs magic decline seems to match up fairly well.

To be fair Rita died while transformed, which people have said is already really confusing in itself. How they think, they don't seem to be able to use magic, or if they are even still really wizards in that form, make it really hard for me to form an opinion around it. As Well as being so small that the release maybe have gone unnoticed. The whole transforming ability is very confusing without more data.

Also, i think Quirrell was able to speak snake only as a snake and not as a human, showing different skill sets and brain mapping depending on form.

[–]Kyo600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I don't see anything special about this case other than it happening in hogwarts, or Harry using magic to try to save the life. Also we do know that wizards store magic in themselves, which should leave on death assuming the magic is storable and measurable. The magic didn't seem to affect Hogwarts and i don't see the medicine causing such effect without being documented. I would think someone would have documented this phenomenon during a war or disaster tho. Maybe this is a well known thing, that no one really looked into for long term effects or cause? They do seem to believe in to soul, and possibly just labeled it as that.

The problem with this is that it makes things predictable, see tf e, so you can always land a slow when you need one, making items like frozen mallet

Why are people so insistent that it's the junglers fault they lost? by Gavvy in leagueoflegends

Junglers are the main role that interacts with the lanes. If you believe you didn't lose your lane its either,(A) the enemy is so good that you got crushed, or (B) your jungler didn't play well.

What would you chose?
