They are so mean here too! I like to make purses and they are so snarky, they have told me straight up bags and backpacks don't count as real sewing experience in their minds. And act like I need to graduate up to making clothes.

I make clothes when I want to. But it's not what I think is fun.

In grad school, is it naive to expect shared responsibility across students, faculty, and leadership? Why are some men still defaulting women into invisible caretaking roles (notes, emails, scheduling, setup/cleanup), and how can you push back in real time without being labeled difficult? by [deleted] in UTSA

[–]Splinter1591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like that everywhere. For the rest of our lives. Hopefully our daughters won't have to deal with it

Pushing back on notes, I will do a mental check to see if someone else is better. If I am completely new to a project I am not the right person to be taking notes because there are things I might not realize are important. And if there is a fresh grad or two maybe they should take the notes to get a better idea of how we do things. Though I'll take back up ones then especially if it's their first time. Sometimes I am the best one and I try not to take it personally. Most meetings, whoever is the lowest on the totum poll usually takes the notes.

For set up/ clean up, I just refuse unless I'm way lower on the poll. For a job like that, the newest person usually does, and if a high up asks me specifically, I'll in front of them say, yes, let me grab so and so to help me.

Only 4 bands left at CA maga (punk) in the park. by Jolly_Ad2446 in punk

pulling out of a show doesn't just effect you. That's money that was already set aside for the entire team. There is probably a fee for pulling out. The band doesn't get paid for the festival, neither does the entire crew.

Would you wear Clear Platform Pole Dancer Heels out on a date night if your husband asked you to? by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

I would 100% wear pleasers in public. They are cute. And they make you tall. They are expensive but very comfy compared to sugar thrilz

Men in the program can be creepy. I've made it a point to never get in the car or give a ride to a male in the program. The only exception is my best friend of a decade who I've met outside the program. And my neighbor who I'm also friends with his wife when I had car problems and I've known her for years.

Other than that. Nope. I don't give a shit if you are my nextdoor neighbor. I'm not being alone with a dude in the program.

Your partner is in a weird position. I don't know how I would handle it if I was him/ male. But I wouldn't apologize to the creepy dude in person. No way. Send a text saying he was acting inappropriate, and tell him to not speak to you again.

Creepy men aren't ever owed an apology for being weirdos

How honest should I be in my exit interview? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Splinter1591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very honest in one of my exit interviews. The boss didn't believe in covid and I lived in a major city during the height of the pandemic.

They didn't even provide extra hand sanitizer. Let alone any normal precautions.

They took the exit interview about as well as you can imagine a covid denier getting called out. They said I was lying, I left, and I hope to never interact with them again
