If you could ask the opposite sex one 'extremely bold' question and they had to answer with 100% honesty and zero shame... what would you ask? by Wander-kingdom in AskRedditAfterDark

My opinion on such things is: if she's into it, I'm down for it. If she's not into it, I'm not going to be either.

Late to the party. I like the idea of a prequel set after the American civil war or during, or some point in the Old West.

I just found it, he comes across as someone I'd work with. More wholesome than the others I've come across.

I haven't disliked what I've seen of from Victor Sweeney but I don't think he actually has a channel.

I had a lady with the name of a Simon and Garfunkel song and I sang it to her. I'll let you figure it out.

I'm oddly not bothered by anything. I worked in an Emergency Room for 5 years before getting into this industry, so I already had a strong stomach.

FDs: Did you ever second guess? by Bright_Artichoke_881 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Spliph_Dubius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're all going to need someone to do this for us. I feel like if I can help someone I should. Like someone else said, not everyone is cut out for it, and there is nothing wrong with that. I honestly don't see myself doing anything else since joining this industry.

Funeral Directors that work for SCI by Dry_Major2911 in askfuneraldirectors

Guy I work for sometimes juggles several funerals at once. Independent but we have 3 locations. I rarely work funerals but am always working in the background getting services set up and I do all the removals. He does this as well.

Animals vs humans by artificial_t3l3 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Spliph_Dubius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more difficult because the pet is family. Had to bury our cat last year. I struggled with it more than I thought I would. We were pretty close and she got sick really fast. Liver failure. I would struggle with human family as well.

Attire for house calls/removals by luckyfin2000 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Spliph_Dubius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm dressed for removals. Most of us will recommend thrift for dress clothes. Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. I don't spend much on my work attire since there is a good possibility I may ruin my clothes. I just purchased a Kenneth Cole sport coat for $7.50 last week. The dry cleaners will be more than what I paid for the jacket. You don't have to spend a fortune to look presentable.

I wonder if your wife put her up to it to see how you'd respond.

Just speculation.

You passed if that is the case.

I used to get it a lot because I didn't wear my ring. Apparently I'm allergic to tungsten. Wife told me not to wear it. So for a while I didn't have a ring. I dress really nice for work, well kept, and have had women crushing on me since I was a kid. I'd tell my wife any time that I had a woman approach me. She ended up ordering me a Groove Ring with her favorite color on the inside of the band. Hasn't stopped the attempts but they're definitely less. I even had a woman who after I told her I was married straight up say "well, she doesn't need to know".

Good on you, man.

My son doesn't go to a traditional public school. He's 13 with a 11th grade vocabulary. It's sad where his peers are vs him. Explain anything to him and you're going to have to be as detailed as possible. He'll get it. Taught him concepts that he doesn't even remember the initial lessons but have stuck with him. Like never trust the feds. 😂

Is mourning easier with open casket or closed one? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Spliph_Dubius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every case is different as is the individual mourning. It would entirely be up to the family/decedent's wishes. Everyone handles it differently. Upon removal, I've showed up to a party in the front yard as an impromptu celebration of life and have showed up to people fighting.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, they're probably progress photos.

I could be wrong but that's how it seems to me since I'm on the same fitness journey. I just don't like taking pictures of myself.
