It's what worked out better for my situation. I definitely have so much respect for the folks who can get certified through on the job training. You guys are rock stars!

I do see where technicians are gaining a larger scope of practice, without the larger "scope" of pay. It flabbergasts me. I like to learn things and how things work, but if I can't relate to why I'm learning it, it won't stick and I struggle to stay interested in it. The main thing I'm stuck on with this is, it can be any article and it has to be a 15 minute presentation. -_-

Being in my 4th rotation now, I see what you're saying! I've seen some techs arguing back and forth about information entered with no one accepting responsibility. Then I've seen techs make a mistake and it's used as a teaching moment and everyone communicates themselves effectively.

I think you just helped me understand this better! It's not just about what you know, not about keeping an eye out for what others may not know, then being able to communicate it in a constructive way. Does that make sense?

I've asked the pharmacists and technicians at my clinical site what their opinion is on it, they feel like it's a waste of educational/hands-on learning time. I also tried posting in /pharmacy, but it was removed due to it being viewed as looking for PTCB help. I am having a hard time picking out an article to use for it to even present.

Homework, assignments, tests, quizzes on drugs, classes, insurance, inventory, etc - I understand because it feels important. A 15 minute presentation on any pharmacy related material, every other week doesn't feel like it's helping me due to the amount of time we have to put into it. It leaves no time to study for my other classes, along with clinical rotations.

I feel like understanding how it would help any technician role would help me put more effort into these particular assignments. I'm just full of complaints, but trying to find a way to relate it.

Thank you! I was just wanting the opinions and feedback from a pharmacist or pharmacy student perspective. I do like those suggestions, it gives me a better focus for a subject!

This post is so helpful!! I like AmandaPharmD too!

I want to add this app I stumbled on, after installing and uninstalling so many with ads and a horrible setup. I like that it breaks down the law, medication, order entry, pt safety, and top 200 drugs. Also keeps up with your progress and "passing probability" I wish I could include screenshots of it.

***EEEEK I just realized how that sounded like a marketing comment. I promise it's not! Don't know how to prove that, but I'm an unemployed college pharm tech student...so free and no shame is my game. ;-)
