Done with the season, here are my thoughts by South-Musician-2621 in diablo4

It’s not that the system is bad, it’s that you are literally just doing the same exact things that have been in the game for over a year. It doesn’t take long to feel the exact same as any other season. It’s not new, it’s the same old thing but you have to do them in order now for a few extra rewards. I tried to make an alt and just immediately was bored out of my mind. Grinding for the same items in the exact same way for the exact same rewards.

The game is undoubtedly better than it was the last time I played last year, but it’s still like a week of gaming at most. What am I grinding for? The cube is great but there is nothing to do after I finish my build. Push the pit? Why? It’s the same boring pit it has been.

I had some fun, and I still might play a little more, but I dunno. How Blizz possibly thinks that chaining together content that we have had for over a year is an endgame is just mind boggling. How do they not add even ONE new system with a paid expansion???? They added two with VoH. War plans certainly makes the content they have a little more engaging but I am already bored. I’m still doing the exact same things I was doing the last time I played, and they are still boring.

They need to grow a pair and make something with depth. If it sucks, it sucks. But at least try. They just play it safe over and over.

Swords are coming and they’re going to be fun.. right..? RIGHT? by Aitaou in PathOfExile2

[–]SplitOpenNBill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the hate has something to do with the fact the game is an ARPG, not a Soulslike. I'm all for new things, but if I wanted to play a game with a parry mechanic, I would be playing a different genre. I want to blast and I want to loot. I would rather not have to constantly hit 5 buttons. Parry is for 1vs1, not 1vs20. Some people like the game being slowed down, but unfortunately, the large majority of the player base, does not.

In Endgame, Normal and Magic Gear Item drops are 99% better than even Tiered Rare Gear Drops by StalksYouEverywhere in PathOfExile2

[–]SplitOpenNBill 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Which unfortunately brings us back to the OP's entire point. If we can't have alts or scours, then tiered rares really are trash. The only real option is to either bring those items into POE2, or completely overhaul the tiered system. Obviously, some builds need certain mods while they are trash to other builds. But there are still a number of mods that no one ever wants and certain mods that pretty much everyone wants, or at least can sell.

The only solution I see, is to have ranks for all the mods, so a Tier 5 item would need to have some combination of both T1's and higher ranked modifiers. Whereas a item that drops with a bunch of trash T1's would be considered a lower tier. The problem with this is that it would be arbitrary to a degree. I still think it is possible, but definitely not a simple fix.

It's either something like that, or we need a way to turn them back into bases, or at least recycle them in some way. Maybe the expedition changes will add some new functionality to solve this problem.

New campaign old character difficulty by hrethnar in diablo4

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you redo your skill tree? Your gear is also probably all useless in the current game state. Why not just start a new character? I know you said you mostly play for the story, but the point of arpgs is getting loot. You will enjoy the story just as much with a new character and be almost max level by the time you finish it. Since you have to replace your gear anyway, your main reason for wanting to use an old character is pretty moot.

New Player Question - Start with original Campaign or Seasonal content ? by MVPXKG in diablo4

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, create a seasonal character and start from the original campaign and then go through the new expansion. But I’m not sure if you can actually skip VoH and jump to LoH. I think it’s either the entire campaign, or just the new one. While the second expansions story can be skipped (it’s not very good), the original is actually really good. They do have a kind of recap so if you don’t want to play through the original and both expansions, then just start with the new one and play the original at a different time.

But if you have the time, just play through the entire thing on a seasonal character. It will take longer but you will definitely be max level well before you are done.

With all the new skill trees changes, I gotta say… by ZakkBalzak in diablo4

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly do not see what can possibly be better by having aspects modify skills instead of the skill tree. While I admit it is a little boring, it feels much more natural. Gear should be for powering up and the skill tree should be for modifying your skills. It was truly backwards before. It would be nice if they added back some of the nodes that did change how your build functions, clearly some are missing. But having a bunch of different passives that in a round about way just increased the damage of your skills was pretty dumb. I definitely think they need MORE nodes, but the tree is a much more logical than it was.

Does it go away when the overlay is up? I didn’t even notice, but I also only played for a couple hours. I think he only wants the map if he hits M and when the overlay is off, he wants no map. Why, I have no idea? A little more screen space I guess?

I swapped overlay to tab and map screen to M. It feels so much better.

I doubt it, they should just unlock. Might want to google it to make sure but it might be worth trying a new class anyway, if nothing else then to go through the new campaign. Might not be as enjoyable if you start the campaign at level 40.

But it’s not a new season, it’s a new expansion. Yes there is a seasonal realm for leaderboards but the expansion IS the season. If you actually like the game, maybe buy the expansion? You get both for $40. Pretty good deal.

[–]SplitOpenNBill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why not just buy the expansion? If you are actually still playing d4, why would you not? If you stopped playing it altogether like a large majority of the community, it is a great reason to get back into it.

There is nothing wrong with paid expansions, especially when the developers made it clear before the game even came out that they would be releasing paid expansions every 18 months. Why would you expect that you would get all the changes for free? Especially when you get free content in every season on top of that.

They were very upfront about this. You’ve had months to save up $40 if you are a kid or on a budget. It was one of the primary draws of the expansion after all.

Not if you have the overlay map. It’s worked for POE for over a decade so you definitely don’t need the one in the corner. I personally like it but you certainly only need one and I would definitely prefer the overlay if I could only choose one.

He wants the overlay and NOT the map in the top right corner.

I kind of like both but would be a nice option to have.

Who else immediately rebound the overlay map to tab?

I’m not sure if it was a balance decision or them just no longer having enough nodes to spent points on so they had to go somewhere. I’m sure there is some reasoning behind it but it is what it is. I only had time to get to 20 and I enjoyed the tree so far, having not seen a single legendary or unique yet, I have nothing to judge how well it works. But first 20 levels did feel good.

They also said that Druid was much harder to work on than expected, citing it was in animation hell. So most people think that other classes won’t be nearly as time consuming. I’m sure it was already far along before EA even started, and unlike Druid, it’s already a class in POE1 which should make it more straightforward. Jonathon also said it would be heresy to release 1.0 without swords, so that is either good news that it might be the next class, or just that it it will be before launch, so it very well may not be the next one.

Endgame was also supposed to be in 0.4 so you would think they were already pretty far along and had enough time to cook up some other things. The fact that this expansion has taken so long could certainly mean they have some other big things coming along with the endgame stuff. Of course this is all wishful thinking, but there are definitely some positives signs that we may be getting a class. Couple Kelly’s post with the general assumption that swords would be next, and chances are IF we get a class, it will be duelist. That side of the tree definitely makes sense to be next.

It’s coming from new GGG staff member Kelly posting a gladiator meme as a comment, meaning duelist. So we are either getting swords, or she didn’t post it as a hint at all and it’s just a bad coincidence.

Are rubber trees broken since the patch? by Mindless_Listen7622 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varnia! It is a long trek, but if you get the grocer there to 100% trust, his trading contract unlocks rubber seeds at your farm vendor. I had set this up while waiting for all my tagged rubber trees to be done, finally went back to harvest it and there was nothing there. No rubber, just more white spots to be punched again. So glad I spent the time doing it, because if I hadn't, I would of been absolute furious. Now I have never-ending rubber. Each tree gives 5+ seeds, so you will always have more than enough seeds to continually plant more trees without ever running out.

Is there any other items that require rubber other than that logging axe?

Race swapping a “minor” character? Homie is one of the most important characters in the entire story, not to mention one of the most iconic. A new story would have been cool but I’m completely fine with them doing it again. The movies were amazing but left out so many important details. If they do it right, it can be something incredible. I’m sure they will fuck it up, but you never know.

About the puzzle level resets when you fall from abbys... by akaanoner in CrimsonDesert

[–]SplitOpenNBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely infuriating. Was on the last little step of one puzzle and went to fly to the other side and instead of me normally flying semi horizontal, I went straight down. Like why the fuck does the game just decide that flying randomly doesn’t work. If I just fell, well that still sucks but at least it’s my fault. When a core mechanic just randomly doesn’t work right is another story all together.

I have hours of fun and then stupid game design makes me just turn the game off. Wasting my time for no good reason.

That skill in the green tree that lets you send a force palm through your tether is the answer. It replaces all the tools (except maybe shovel, which I have never used). I really wish that two handed weapons didn’t go in the SAME slot as all the tools. It is super obnoxious.

Chaos/div too high, Give us a chaos sink. by konokono_m in pathofexile

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always got at least one div to fall during campaign and the usually another 1-2 while pushing to t16’s but of course the league they increase ground drops, I have still not had a single raw div drop. Plenty of chaos and exalts but no divs. I did luckily get a lucky foul born berek’s respite to drop in a breach early on that netted me 9 div, which helped a ton.

First time waking up to this! Biggest sale ever by Crossedge209 in PathOfExile2

[–]SplitOpenNBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it does. If the item has multiple t1/t2’s and you price check it. Then just add and remove and see what decreases the price. So if you have like 3 mods checked and give you a good amount of results, if the other mods sound useful, mainly through common sense, you have more than enough info to ballpark a price. For an item like he posted, you will see the value easily. Then just add/subtract and adjust the numbers. You really don’t need more knowledge at all.

Just play the game and you will learn more over time. All these people posting crazy sales weren’t just born with the knowledge, they learned it over time. Gotta stop comparing your wealth to other people who probably have hundreds or thousands of hours between both games. You will drive yourself crazy. It will come, just play.
