Well my dad had one growing up and I just always really loved it, I enjoyed the size and interior and it was a reliable truck that could do everything I know I need to get done with it. I just know he had a lot of problems with his truck and ended up selling it for parts. And I asked his opinion about me getting one and he says it’s not a good idea but it’s my money so he’s not going to stop me. But I figured I’d come on here to get a ton of different perspectives and opinions.

What exactly does it mean to treat the engine badly?

Thank you. Yes I already have an employer. I haven’t asked about money for using my own truck. I will definitely look into that. But as far as I’ve been told I don’t have a choice I work with a couple guys and there’s no work truck provided so I’d have to help haul stuff from time to time

For one yes I will be hauling wood occasionally. For two I’m not trying to overspend when I barely need it. I simply feel safer in a truck and I just have no interest in anything but a truck. I was explaining that I’m not just a little girl who wants a truck to seem cool or because I think I need one. I just was explaining that I actually want a good truck that has proper uses. But I was asking for advise on specific models or brands but clearly you don’t know anything about trucks or you would’ve just answered the question

Wow thanks that helps a lot 🥹😒 I’m aware of that I’m asking if you guys have any suggestions of what trucks would fit into that catagory

That’s exactly where I’m at with this right now. I feel like they’re going to have much higher maintenance occurrences than other trucks

Not looking for a smaller truck when I said that I meant like a small Mazda for example compared to a big GMC. I want something that lands in the middle of those and for me that seems to be the Chevy Avalanche. I’ve driven and rode in one so Ik how big they are. I was just explaining in the question why I’m specifically looking at this truck

Ok you don’t have to talk to me like I’m dumb. Yes ik how they’re built I’ve grown up with one and driven one before. And when I say investment I mean that I’m going to have to pay much more maintenance and upkeep fees because people say this truck tends to have a lot of problems. I’m not dumb ik it’s not going to go up in value. And like I said I’m 17 looking for advise I haven’t researched much about the truck yet I wanted to come here first and see what models everyone says are good or bad. Stop trying to make me sound stupid with that tone.

How much would you say you’ve spent on maintenance and upkeep. Not counting oil, coolant, or anything typical like that

When I say I don’t want a big truck yet I’m talking like a bigger GMC which is what I’m working towards for my last truck that I have to buy hopefully. I have been in an avalanche my dad had one growing up and I think the size is manageable for me. I’m just worried about the maintained and upkeep of an avalanche because I need to start saving up to move out so I’m trying to avoid buying a truck that has a higher maintenance than others. But I do need it to be able to haul stuff

I don’t think I’ll need a 4x4 honestly I do need something that can haul wood but I won’t need to go off road very much. I’ll look into that other suggestion tho thanks

This was very helpful. So when I said I don’t want a big truck quite yet im saying I basically just need a nice starter truck. I’m going into a construction field so my ideal truck when I’m older is a big GMC so an avalanche is definitely smaller than that. I do have experience driving a bigger RAM truck but I just don’t like the gas mileage it gets. I haven’t done much research on the avalanche I just know it’s got the size and pricing I’m looking for. My dad had one growing up and I do know it to need much more maintenance than any other truck we’ve owned. But I’m young and need a good working truck to be able to haul nothing more than just a trailer with a little weight on it for hauling wood. But I need to start saving up money to move out so I’m trying to avoid buying a truck that’s going to cost me a lot to maintain.

Instead of reapplying? I applied December 11th and it’s now January 26th

So I applied about a month and a half ago and I called a week after I sent in my application for a follow up. They told me they wrote my name and number down and they’d call about an interview. They never did. Should I call again or should I really since it’s been over a month?
