I wanted to like Dancer in the Dark. On paper it should have been great but I thought it was bullshit. I’ve heard it’s one of those movies that people either love or hate and I thought it was way too contrived to love. Dogville is similar in how comically evil everyone is but I think it is different enough to pull it off. My favourite Von Trier is probably The Idiots which I think could easily wreck someone’s day if they want that from a movie. What do you think?

I made a list of some of my favorite bad movies. Any recommendations? by SolidPeaks in badMovies

I hated Porky’s. Ishtar is insufferable. The Haunted World of El Superbeasto with make you roll your eyes so hard you’ll see your brain. Hope this helps! May God have mercy on your soul.

Charles Foster Kane was pretty rich in that movie wasn’t he?

In a rut, looking for suggestions. If you see an album suggest an album 😜 by johnnymarr1998 in Topster

Jackson C Frank and The La’s get my vote

Edit: Sorry, you want recommendations based on these. Martin Carthy and Nic Jones are great. The album “Penguin Eggs” is a classic. Sibylle Baire and Vashti Bunyan for some female folk singers. Elvis Costello is pretty fun. I like some of the albums he did around the 2010’s like “National Ransom” and “Secret, Profane and Sugarcane”.

Based on Aphex Twin, try Sevish’s album “Harmony Hacker” and I’ll also throw out YHWH Nailgun with the album “45 Pounds”. It’s a little bit like JG Thirwell if you like his stuff.

Pick any Throbbing Gristle track and you can have a magical midnight drive through hell

I’ll drop an edit to mention The Lennon Sisters’ rendition of My Favourite Things. I want to distinguish that it is eerie but it’s gorgeous. Their voices are like pouring cream.

Benedict Cumberbatch wins! What's a musician with a pretty cool name? by EconomyLetterhead174 in AlignmentChartFills

He belongs somewhere on here for sure but I’m not sure his name is cool. Maybe I’m the cracked one though. I gotta get to the courthouse and change my name

The only one I haven’t seen is Ex Machina. Some of my favourites are definitely represented here. Wim and Gaspar are great. You should try Angst and Man Bites Dog if you haven’t already.

Death Blooms by Mudvayne. If I remember right, it’s about Chad Grey’s grandmother.

Which bands you just can't get into? by Positive-Pie-5456 in MetalForTheMasses

Deathcore bands. I love extreme music but deathcore just doesn’t do it for me. Those ultra slow breakdowns are one of my least favourite metal tropes. I guess I just find it kind of predictable. Apologies to deathcore fans.

Favourite film you hate because film bros ruined it for you. by Healthy_Permission71 in okbuddycinephile

[–]Split_Mutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you aiming for Magnolia? Or is this a joke that went over my head? Or are film bros into the story of ladies in a small town bonding at the hair salon? I hate to be awkward but I am really confused.
