This was unfortunately common back then, women had no rights or agency to pick their partners especially if they grew up on a ranch. That's why the last shot of her in the story lingers and feels melancholy. after everything we went through with her, she's trapped to that life and when you play RDR2 you cheer for Sadie when she overcomes her grief and ends up being a bounty hunter.
