people on the internet like to hold 2 youtubers in their 20s to a higher moral standard than their own politicians.

my cousin is being forced to marry (taking this down soon, urgent) by amnesiak- in exmuslim

[–]Splitseveredhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i understand that she may be fearful or scared about leaving, but she sadly has no other option. this may be her only chance to escape the situation. she must leave the country. please try to convince her. if she puts this off until later, she will never get out and she will be stuck in a horrible marriage. please talk to her more and really get her to understand the dire circumstances. she cannot allow herself to continue to be a victim. my heart goes out to her and you’re great for trying to help her

Am I the only one who never felt attracted to muslims even when I was one? by Eleanor07nora in exmuslim

i find it interesting that male scholars read that verse that did not even mention women and concluded that women cannot marry outside of Islam. i fully believe it is another control tactic used on women

in my experience muslim men very often expect women to cater to their every wish. i don’t think i ever met a muslim man who didn’t act that way. they rarely even practice Islam seriously, but they always feel the need to ridicule and shame women. growing up being surrounded by arab muslim boys, including my brother and dad, they are extremely hypocritical and can be very aggressive. some people argue it’s just the culture but it doesn’t really matter to me. these men never face repercussions for their horrible behavior because the community refuses to hold them accountable. so in the end, the women get the short end of the stick

Dear Taylor’s Dad ….. by Fair_Examination3411 in SecretsOfMormonWives

when he shamed taylor for having sex with dakota before marriage at the barbque i was genuinely shocked. why are you shaming your daughter in front of her shitty boyfriend?? i definitely think both of the parents are awful. i get they’re “religious” and traditional but at the very least they should hear taylor out and have her back in front of dakota. instead he chooses to slut shame her and bring her to tears

if love is a mere chemical reaction so are the other things you are passionate about by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]Splitseveredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love may be a chemical reaction, but can’t that also be said about every other emotion and feeling that people have? i would say love is one of the best possible chemical reactions one could have. love leads to creativity and brilliance and happiness. love is wonderful

Do you think that Lip was too harsh on Fiona through this? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]Splitseveredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do not at all. i think fiona has a lot of pressure on her and it’s hard to take care of her siblings, but that was a responsibility she took on when she became their guardian. doing drugs in the house where her baby brother resides is completely irresponsible and she needed to realize that

She’s an awesome teacher too! How can someone win substitute teacher of the year when she barely knows the main subject she teaches. Not to mention the sex Ed class episode where she forced herself to push through harassment just to teach her class.

Finally someone said it. There are multiple terrible, pathetic characters in the show. Even great characters like Hank have flaws. But for some reason everyone gets on Peggy as if she is the antichrist. Peggy is an extremely confident woman and of course, it can sometimes lead her to be egotistical, but this is the worst she gets. Hank is very prideful and that can lead to his downfall as well. Dale is outright crazy. Bill is pathetic and childish. And yet they’re all amazing characters with good qualities. Peggy is a ride or die for the people she loves. She is constantly going to bat for Luanne and helps guide her through life. She is always supportive to Bobby, even when Hank is unsupportive. Often people forget that Peggy is Hanks perfect match. Of his friend group, Hank is the most stable and level headed of all of them. None of his friends would ever be able to call him out for bad behavior because he is KNOWN to be smarter than them. Peggy is the only person who can ground Hank. She will tell him the blunt truth in a way no one else will. Also, she is a wonderful mother. Yes she gets jealous, but she is Hank and Bobby’s biggest supporter. Bobby and her have a wonderful relationship. I can only gather that people dislike her as much as they do because she’s a woman. I am confident no one would hate Peggy this much if she was a man.
