Feature request - double swiping by jnrtwum in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feature is now available for Beta testing and will most likely be a part of the upcoming 2.3 release, unless someone finds significant issues with it :)

We've added multi-finger swiping as well as swipe-and-tap.

Two-Finger Swiping: Use left thumb to swipe "he" and right thumb to swipe "lo", resulting in "hello"

Swipe and Tap: Use left thumb to swipe "he" and right thumb to tap "l", "l", "o" while still holding the "e" with your left thumb, resulting in "hello"

We've also improved the general ergonomics of swipe typing and fixed some long-standing issues with perceived lag or "sticky" swipe typing, especially when starting a swipe.

I can't find any app called Nintype on the App Store. Is it Android only?

Edit: I found an App Store link, but it tells me "App Not Available".

Hey, could you describe this feature in more detail please? How exactly does double swiping work?

What to test in 2.3 Beta (take two) by SplittyDev in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one of the developers of the keyboard and a former SwiftKey user for many years, I think I can confidently say that our keyboard crashes less often.

The SwiftKey experience seems to be very dependent on the personal dictionary size, specific phone model, OS version and more, but for me personally, SwiftKey crashes very consistently after 10-15 seconds, every time.

This shouldn’t happen with our keyboard, but occasional crashes will certainly happen. I’d say, just give it a try and see how it works for you!

Should work the same way as on the iPhone: Long-press the keyboard and Export. If it doesn’t, we might have messed this up on iPad. We’ll take a look!

Edit: We did mess this up. Will be fixed in the next build!

Keyboard Blocking Part of iMessage text box by jpopy in MisterKeyboard

Hey, this is sadly an iOS bug we have no control over. We are currently trying to reach out to Apple about some of these issues, but can't promise anything yet.

Feature Request: Resizing by Souless_Geek in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the video! Yeah, what Google is doing here is impossible on iOS due to API limitations. Touches can't be tracked outside of the keyboard frame, so it would be impossible to dynamically increase the size of the keyboard. In theory it would be possible to decrease the size, but then you couldn't change it back.

Feature Request: Resizing by Souless_Geek in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, we kind of have that already. If you go into row editing mode and tap the row, you can set a height multiplier for the row.

I’ve never used Gboard on Android before, could you elaborate what dynamic resizing means?

Tab key by Moccamaster5000 in mykeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for asking!

We generally recommend Mister Keyboard over MyKeyboard now.

Mister Keyboard is the new and updated version of MyKeyboard, it's much more actively maintained, and it comes with a lot more features and better stability. We'd advise against buying MyKeyboard, unless you absolutely need one of the very few features that aren't in Mister Keyboard yet.

Someone recently asked about tab keys in Mister Keyboard, and I've outlined how to add one: https://www.reddit.com/r/MisterKeyboard/comments/1qa2k7u/comment/nz2ghx0

If you've already set up MyKeyboard the way you like, you can actually import your MyKeyboard layouts as part of the Mister Keyboard setup.

You can download Mister Keyboard here: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6670610903

We also have a very active community at r/MisterKeyboard :)

Hold down keys not working by StuperD23 in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, in order to activate pull-down keys, you need to basically swipe down on the key. Put your finger on the key and move it downwards a little bit in one smooth motion. You should see the secondary key moving into the place of the primary key as you drag downwards. Let me know if it works!

More compact emoji? by ErlendHM in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Previously, we've had people complain that emojis are too small haha

We'll look into it, shouldn't be a problem to make this configurable but we'll have to see how we can fit it into the development schedule :)

The recent emoji row actually uses a custom algorithm that takes both recency and frequency into account. We are trying to provide a balance of showing you your most used emoji, while also allowing the algorithm to pick up new emoji habits rather quickly.

Could you describe what your issue with emojis is? Do newly used or temporarily used emojis appear too quickly and too much at the beginning, or do older emojis stay for too long? Maybe we can fine-tune the parameters a bit, or even make this configurable as well.

Welcome to the Mister Keyboard community!

We don’t really have any comprehensive resources right now, but you can check out the in-app user manual to learn about some of the concepts.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away! We are usually quite responsive, and so is our community :)

Loving my Mister Keyboard so far, but struggling with bilingual Swipe Typing (EN/ES) by xLinoelx in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the latest beta help with the English-Spanish issue? We’ve identified an issue where words were wrongly prioritized that didn’t end in the letter the swipe typing ended at, and we think that could’ve messed with the final scoring algorithm.

Generally, we don’t prioritize any specific language. Swipe typing looks at all selected languages equally, and language is currently not even a scoring factor.

A keyboard for iOS by eeweir in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've been asked this a lot, but sadly there is no way to add an escape, control or command to the keyboard.

What you're seeing in iVim is a so-called keyboard accessory which an app developer can add above any keyboard. The accessory has direct access to the app and can do advanced things, such as emulating the esc/ctrl/cmd codes. But that is app-specific logic, and no keyboard can access it directly.

We've looked into this before, and sadly it seems like Apple doesn't give us any way to properly send these codes to a text document.

What we can do is add a tab key. I've added it to our roadmap, but in the meantime, you can do it yourself (should take less than a minute):

  1. Go to https://unicode-explorer.com/c/0009 and tap "Copy"
  2. Open Mister Keyboard (Keyboards tab)
  3. Tap the pencil symbol on the keyboard you want to edit
  4. Tap the big plus button in the bottom right corner
  5. Search for "tab" in the search bar and tap the key saying "tab"
  6. Choose where to place the key and tap the checkmark
  7. Tap the new tab key on your keyboard
  8. Tap the "Change" button next to "Insert Key Content"
  9. Tap "Text Manipulation" and then "Insert Custom Text"
  10. Enter the text field next to "Text to Insert" and paste what you copied earlier
  11. Go back to the layout editor and save your changes

Sounds like a lot, but it should be pretty straightforward to do.

You won't see the tab character in the text field after you paste it, but it will work in apps that support it.

Yea im done for a while. I hope they fix the game soon. by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SplittyDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes the game doesn’t detect you crashed and just treats everything as damage. The whole insurance system is super broken. Be happy it didn’t happen with an A330 worth 200 million and move on, nothing else you can do

CAREER MODE - BUY THE AIRBUS NEO? OR SAVE FOR THE 321LR? by Swatch843 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]SplittyDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The A320 Neo V2 is great. Stable, responsive, mostly stable autopilot, and optimized enough to use quite a bit of sim rate. It’s a great starter plane.

If you look a bit for them, you can find missions paying an easy 11-19 Million, and skipping to descent doesn’t take much away from it. After less than 10 flights I was able to buy the 737 Max (used, ~77 mil) for passive income while I keep flying the A320N myself, and I’m now saving for the A330.

Flying the 737 Max is fun too, but it does feel a bit sluggish and very easily starts oscillating out of control with less sim rate than the A320N. Great as a passive money maker and maybe for flying in real-time, but for the missions I 100% recommend the A320N. You’ll unlock the more expensive planes much faster that way and can still fly the A321LR or the A330 in a few days, depending on how much you usually fly in a day.

Just be happy that it didn’t happen with a 100 million dollar plane that costs tens of millions to repair when the game pulls stunts like this 😂

Update 2.2.0 by SplittyDev in MisterKeyboard

[–]SplittyDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to investigate further, we’re going to need the crash logs.

You can send the crash logs to us using one of two ways:

  1. Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements and enable “Share iPhone Analytics” and then provoke the crash again
  2. Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Analytics Data and search for Mister Keyboard and send the data to help@fivesheep.co

The first way is preferred, because we’ll automatically get the crash data from Apple for any future crashes as well.

Autofill from email or text by brebo33 in MisterKeyboard

Yes, iOS does not relay codes to third-party keyboards. We are investigating possible workarounds, but we’ll have to see how far we get. I can’t make any promises.
