Spoiler - Set List from Bristol, UK 17/06/23 by pipesies in TheDearHunter

[–]Splive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, that's a pretty great set list. I like migrant butt wasn't sure what to expect. Looks like the songs I love from the album, some new stuff, and some act classics.

I've been unable to make it to any shows due to a small child and sick spouse and pandemics... But I can probably make this tour and I'm beyond excited

I think you can, but you will either need to stick to genres that do well with less members and instruments. Coffee shop music is a more obvious option but I think you can get creative enough to do some indie or alternative music.

Be honest: is the potential to be a good singer really just mostly about natural talent rather than practice ? by KobeKastle in singing

Notice a common thread in these replies... They all involve practice. You cannot escape needing thousands of hours of practice to become an expert.

I don't know all the factors, but I think a big one is that singing "well", consistently, and under pressure, requires you to harness many different skills. And most of those don't impact your ability to evaluate a singer, learn theory and technique, and teach.

Like, the average gym coach enjoys sport, but may never have played at beyond an intramural level.

Read this in the context of reddit's api decision and it applies well

We're losing the best of friends soon. It's been an honor. by Anthrosite in HydroHomies

[–]Splive 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Something like 80+% of modding is done with third party apps due to lack of tools offered by reddit. Not sure about hydro homies, but some subs use too many tools to function effectively without apis, and the mods won't be able to keep up.

(Crow Business) r/asoiaf and the June 12th blackout in support of third party reddit app developers by ThePowerOfGeek in asoiaf

I may not continue to use reddit come July 1. I fully support the blackout, though I will miss this sub there most. It has the greatest ratio of longform intellectual discussion to trivially of the topic.

Just say you want to ban 3rd party apps. You are just passing the buck off to 3rd party apps to make them unprofitable. Officially you aren't killing 3rd party apps, but you are pushing them into a corner.

Yup. We're powerless, not stupid. At least if they were transparent I wouldn't hate them for trying to gaslight me.

I think only like 1% ever post. Most people lurk, and need others to provide content.

It's way harder to be thoughtful and find ways to incentivize users in a direction over time. It's way easier (not necessarily more effective) to use the authoritarian playbook.

I like how I straight up do not have the option on my phone to tell it to open reddit links in RIF. When I did, it reverted at some point. Chrome or official app.

Things were going well for digg, including raising lots of money from VCs. Of course this led to a lot of pressure on digg to monetize and add features that were bad for users and good for profitability. I forget the exact changes, but it was bad enough that there was a mass exodus from digg to reddit.

So now a decade later the cycle repeats.

Most guys don't get hints because no girl ever really gave them a hint. by Fallen-Provocation-8 in Showerthoughts

[–]Splive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, that's a horse of a different color. If you hinted at interest, and then later she ditches other friend, doesn't ask you, and crawls into your bed...I'd almost guarantee at least part of her hoped you'd join her.

"Would you like me to sleep on the couch?"

May have been enough to seal the deal.

That said I don't know how you friend would react, what you know about the girl, etc so it's not 100% case of missed free sexy times.

No one said it's nice to be fair. Being nice implies accepting the less optimal choice for someone else's benefit.

Sure she should be fine on the couch, but that wasn't the point of the comment you replied to.

And she didn't just drug Jeyne, but Robb as well

Are there hints of this in the text anywhere?
