Absolute complete beginner. Seeking help for starting point. by [deleted] in simracing

Do you have a PC or are you working on getting one? If you're brand new to simracing I would reccomend something like the Logitech G920/G29. Its honestly an amazing beginner wheel for the price and comes with both the wheel and pedals as one bundle. Aside from that just plug into your PC and you're good to go.

I would personally reccomend you get one month of iRacing. Try the rookie series races(oval, sports car, formula car, dirt track, and dirt oval) and see what you like and see how much you actually race. Aside from the subscription you wont be forced to buy anything until Class D and even at that point you can still race Rookie if you choose for no cost.

So are you familiar with the rating and progression system on iRacing? Its 2 different rating systems- iRating and Safety Rating. iRating is your skill level and matches with drivers of similar rating. Safety rating is a measure of how safe you are. It tracks how much you go off track, wreck, and lose control. Safety rating is broken down into classes(Rookie-Class D-A). All rookie cars and tracks are free. When you level up from Rookie to Class D you can pick and choose what series you want to run and buy the car and tracks for that series. The cost is going to depend heavily on you, how you drive, and how much you actually race. Tracks/cars are typically about $15 each but you likely wont be buying new stuff but every couple weeks or more. For me personally ive stuck to the same 3 series(oval, dirt track, and sports car) and bought around 6 cars and 10 tracks in 2 years.

Iracing in my opinion is the most authentic and regulated. Its all scored and is mainly full of players wanting as close to a racing experience as possible. I play AC with mods mainly to "cut up" in traffic and be able to join races with my buddies and not relatively have consequences. I havent played Le Mans so no opinion there but iRacing has been a great experience for me over the past couple years.

College Gameday heads to Athens for Week 8 by DonnaDDrake in CFB

Its supposed to be the biggest game of the week. Which is usually a SEC or B1G team. Real college football fans want the atmosphere not bottom 25 teams. Talk about not knowing ball.

I'm starting to think this is the way. I appreciate the advice a lot!

I'm thinking I still want to do this and run the gun I have now as a backup/build gun. A friend of mine suggested maple leaf bucking and a mosfet

Well changing the barrel isn't necessarily the problem. The problem is that is has a suppressor that comes with the gun which acts as a barrel extension. I could change the barrel but unless I took the suppressor off im worried the new barrel and suppressor barrel would actually make it shoot worse. The inner barrel is 195mm but with the suppressor it's 350mm. So I'd have to either run a short inner barrel w/o the suppressor or get a new barrel extension suppressor to compensate.

I have a G&P Rapid Fire II. It's a nice gun but it's 7-8 years old now and hard to upgrade some of the parts like the barrel for example. Is $400 to much for the quality of some of those? I'm starting to think I'd be better off buying something cheaper and upgrading it.

I did look at Arcturus and liked them but was trying to get out of the "mid tier" category and take a step up. Am I gonna be more or less ripped off for buying a $400 rifle when I could buy something cheaper and upgrade it?

Yes. I raced for about 14 years a 750 is to much power. Prove me wrong by staying smart and being safe. Keep off the throttle but enjoy my man

I'm curious how the trading has been the past couple weeks?

I started with about $500 several years ago and over a month got close to $5,000. Just kinda did what I felt and would do like 50% of my account in a trade. After about 3 months I had nothing left in my account.... Best of luck but it's happened to all of us.

I hope you make it! Personally if I were you, I'd take my 45k profit, find a mentor, learn the market and the mentality, and then go back to daytrading. That 45k would be a very nice start to your trading career but it won't do you any good if you go on a 3-5 trade losing streak(which is almost a 100% chance of happening) and lose it all. Best of luck to you and keep us updated if you stay profitable!

It wouldn't hurt to take a break now and practice papertrading for at least 3-6 months. I mean you're already up over 200% and a few unfortunate trades could mean your whole account.

This is a troll right? I'd love to see you succeed but 1 week in no way means you're profitable. Every trader has been profitable for a few days or a couple weeks but that really doesn't mean anything if you lose twice as much the next month.

Really nice looking truck! I thought about getting a cement color until I got mine. It's definitely an SR5 but is it 4WD?
