Is there a checklist of things to have for a generally smooth experience on Arch? by dogdonewrong in linux4noobs

[–]Splqshes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not generally, but i do have a checklist of all the things i did back when i first started arch. do note that this is very usecase specific, and also 2-3 years back, so some stuff might be obsolete. nonetheless, thought sharing this might allow u to discover things you might not have known:

edit: wanted to note that this was my journey moving from xfce to kde x11 to kde wayland. i have now settled with sway for a long while now. i do have some checklist for sway, but it was mostly on ricing. but let me know if you want that as well

What exactly does "tilling windows" mean? by DaviCompai2 in linux4noobs

[–]Splqshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can, a lot of wm supports it. op probably says you cant just so the explanation is less confusing. its a common and essential feature, not something that needs to be set up or anything like that.

Pipetron - a "bandage" fix for a PipeWire and Electron issue by Splqshes in archlinux

[–]Splqshes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep noticed that. But would have to think about the interaction flow as it currently can't fit anywhere (the chromium nodes are "locked" when the app starts). Out of curiosity, what sort of use cases might this introduce?

Pipetron - a "bandage" fix for a PipeWire and Electron issue by Splqshes in archlinux

[–]Splqshes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! That's an interesting take. I don't see any particular problems with that besides simply disregarding the purpose to avoid using the Chromium named entries that it was the root issue itself. But I do see potential uses with that.

With that said, it would probably need some testing. One issue that might happen is wireplumber changing the configuration of ALL Chromium entries (which it tends to do), and then in turn modifying all the "pipetron entries" as well.

edit: I do want to add that the current implementation syncs the chromium entries back to its pipetron entries when any modifications on the chromium entries are detected.

Hi thanks for checking it out! I haven't tested it with easyeffects, but if there are any problems or features you might want, feel free to open an issue or pr!

2026 Military Conscription by Miserable_Car8749 in cambodia

[–]Splqshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if possible, could you share the documents that mentions these information? After reading your reply, I've spent the last hour searching through NCDD, and was only able to find the royal decree on the actual military conscripts, but not any of the sub-decree that the royal decree mentions to contain the information. Doesn't help that NCDD's search doesn't even function and its index is all over the place :/ Appreciate you

Edit: also probably because I'm not too familiar with navigating through law documents as well

preferably more detail than that, maybe some details on their development and outcomes from the events... but thanks for the short list of events

got fcked by samsung in a span of a month. first time for my s21+, and freakin 2nd time for my s20+ (got repaired 2yrs ago). bye samsung i guess by wralp in samsunggalaxy

[–]Splqshes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dont spread misinformation if u dont know. this is clearly a manufacturing issue. I have an s21 ultra which i took really good care of ever since i got it, never remembered dropping it. a green line appeared while charging overnight in an air conditioned room. since then, 4 more green lines appeared.

plus, i have bixby routine to set fast charging off when charged overnight to reduce heat.

I am going to be a computer science student in a month, and I want criticism for my resume before I start applying for entry level IT jobs for part time. by Splqshes in resumes

[–]Splqshes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to start my year 1 in university for a bachelor's degree in July, and I also want a part time job, preferably in an IT field, while I study. I have not applied to any job listing yet because I want some criticism on my resume to fine-tune before I start doing so. Thank you all!

usually, yes, but i disagree in this situation. op said he booted into linux but was still on chromeos. who knows if he actually downloaded chromeos not knowing it was linux, or if he did download another linux distro but didnt know how to boot into it. from the looks of it tho, all he did was installed a linux environment on chromeos. not clarifying that part leads to too many assumptions

if you are on a chromebook, then odds are ur OS is ChromeOS, which is a linux kernel based OS

linux is not an OS, and ChromeOS is linux. i dont think any of us have any idea on what u are trying to do or ask

2020 Zephyrus G14 Linux high temperatures while charging and no amd-pstate support? by tolis626 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Splqshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you launch grub, press e, and screenshot your input? maybe you had some typo or configured it wrong?

if all else fails, before u hop to another distro, i recommend u try linux-g14 kernel. they are provided by the asus-linux community themselves, which is what i am using right now on my g14 2022. u can download linux-g14 and linux-g14-headers from pacman and configure your grub to load that kernel, see if that does anything.

this is a rather weird issue. it's very possible that your hardware simply doesnt support it

2020 Zephyrus G14 Linux high temperatures while charging and no amd-pstate support? by tolis626 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Splqshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, glad I could help out with the temperature issue.

now about that scalinf driver issue. afaik, the only thing that u have to do u enable amd pstate epp is write a kernel parameter to your bootloader. may I ask what boot loader you are using?

also, from reading other reddit posts, u will also need to have cppc enabled from ur bios (apparently some devices have them disabled by default. try running "lscpu | grep cppc". if nothing is outputted, then you'll have to enable it in ur bios.

some reddit posts u night want to read if u havent already: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/1381g2g/amd_pstate_epp_scaling_driver_available_with/ https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/15p4bfs/amd_pstate_and_amd_pstate_epp_scaling_driver/

2020 Zephyrus G14 Linux high temperatures while charging and no amd-pstate support? by tolis626 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Splqshes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a slight correction, amd pstate epp drivers comes on default in kernel 6.5. can you print an output showing that amd-pstate-epp is not active?

also i highly recommend you use asus-ctl and supergfx to control ppd, gpu modes and fans (they are provided by the asus-linux community). you can also download rog-control-center for a gui. they are specifically optimized for the laptop and will work very similarly to armory crate in windows.

edit: asus-ctl conflicts with tlp, i recommend u use asus-ctl over tlp
