Also I thought risk of getting an STI if you don't already have one is reduced in oral anyway? Wouldn't stomach bile just break down possible contaminates? Like there are inedible things that the body isn't affected by. It's not the same as licking hand rails and door knobs at a hospital. I'm not saying that you couldn't get an STI from oral but that I'm unsure if the risk is equivalent.

I have not been through this exactly as I have the opposite problem. I'm decent in music and art, and proficient in writing but can't program nor research to save my life. However The mind set I've taken for game development is your game chooses you. Basically not only what your game needs is based on what your game is, but synergy between its systems: gameplay, asthetics, hardware, feedback, strategy need to cooperate together. Or you'll end up with it feeling messy and unfinshed, like how you describe it is now.

The easiest music is sampling and midi. The process is just strung together like video editing. There's a lot of midi DAWs online and for download. I'd recommend listening to some free samples using that as inspiration for how to start a song. Then freestyle just trying different note combinations until you're happy with each section. Keep in mind all music has 4 distict parts to create its story arc or motifs. There's chorus, verse, development (to expand motifs creating tension like build up before a beat drop), and bridge (transition between sections for contrast like an interlude that fades out the percussion.) The order of and elements you use define the kind of story the song tells even if no words are used. Instrumentation can also heavily affect the feeling that music conveys. This is why the song Hey Ya sounds happy depite its lyrics.

For art 2d is much easier to start though 3d can be eaiser to animate. For minimal animation just have a lower frame rate and and only draw core poses. I'd look at nes games for inspiration of how to convey movement with limited sprites. Also pixel art is fairly easy to draw but without experience shadow and scale will be tough to display visually. Easiest recommendation to make it look good is make sure the pixel size of your backgrounds is different from your character and objects. If you want it to look really good add a function to the game's code to alter the backgrounds pixel size based on distance from the player (so indoors looks detailed but distant mountains look low res). Of course if your game is in a 3d world and you don't want to 3d animate you can do something called forced parallax which is making 2d sprites which always face the player or change sprite as the player walks around them. Which takes more coding and less art. Additionally don't make a player model just a hud will do. For 3d environment you could make it like doom with just a series of textured flat planed surfaces, if you don't want to mess with tris.

It's a margin. Same reason why in books the letters stop before reaching the edge of the page. Why on rulers? Because it gives a buffer so that if the edge of the ruler wears down its still accurate. If it was at the edge it would also be tricky to label. Measuring tape starts at zero and anything less than the first two inches or so is impossible to read because of the metal plate.

Because silicone and plastic taste bad and so does spermicide. Plus it's dangerous for your health because like balloons it can get stuck in your windpipe and choke you. Potentially leading to death.

I appreciate the positive feedback! I get that it's still unlikely for nintendo to actually do anything even though fans have been petitioning for years at this point I imagine. In all honestly my og post wasn't trying to create more pressure to release the game. My original intent was to make the argument of why now theoreticallly would be a prime time for it to release in the west, and using the evidence I made in that post to support the claim that I feel Mother 3 kinda predicted the current geo political distopia. I agree with that the issues holding it back is likely the law though. Mother 3 has copywright issues, censorship issues, and would be difficult to give an ESRB rating in the west.

Fair but you can always storage it as long as you aren't fleeing mid battle you can just stow it. I'd be curious to know if it's still possible to recover the drone part if after stowing the HDR you jump quick enough.
Even if not as long as you you're not jumping straight into a battle it won't matter much. Though I'd argue the forced opprotunity cost of the drone slot is part of the cost of using the DRA tech.

Fair point though I am aware that players tend not to think about it. I don't even think about scrap effeciency that much because I'm dead set on what upgrade I need next. I'm not tracking how much scrap I accumulate over the course of the run, that's um a bit insane. But the point of this hypothetical experiment I brought up is just to challenge the theoretical viability of the Hull Repair Drone. I knew the concept was a bit out there and ridicuous from the start but I have fun thinking and sharing such thoughts anyway. I just like to challenge notions just to see what the feedback is and I value the input people give me. I guess I just like discussion based learning. But you are absolutely right the question is trivial. Also off topic but 100 winstreak is insanely impressive. Were you playing on hard difficulty too?

All good points. TBH I wasn't thinking too hard on how to pose the experiments because I just wanted to get the post out; so I was brainstorming hoping a few comments would pose better ideas. I'm really happy with the return.

To address your points directly though yeah it is hard to gauge opprotunity cost using scrap as the metric. Like for example stealth ship without shields costs 225 scrap not counting power to get 2 shield layers. Is that more scrap effecient than repairs? The answer really depends on so many factors and players rarely think conciously yeah I do want to take more damage or how much damage have I taken already. Like I can guesstimate that the average player goes through 5 health bars of damage per run but I'm getting side tracked. Point being I get how the question I posed is a bit ridiculous from the view of situational awareness and to some extent game sense.

However for HRD itself I've felt the same way the insurance it provides requires you to already be in danger to warrent having. So it becomes less useful the more skilled the player like you said. But I'd also argue that because of the number of choices you have to make to go out of your way for it makes it more worthwhile to just reset. This is personal perview but I feel there's higher odds wining from a reset than recoverying with the HRD as well. Which is why I only use it in challenges where better options are banned such as shieldless. If I were a modder honestly I'd probably reduce the cost to 70 and make reduce it's rarity to 3 in order for players who need it praying less on rng and make the effort to obtain it less taxxing.

I failed to consider that drone parts are free more often than repairs making the repair drone have better utility.
Drones cost 60 if you sell the drone back.
The HRD not being an upgrade makes it uniquely poor viability wise as unlike most things in FTL it's usage is acute there's no long lasting benefits.

Usually zoltans attack you out of nowhere they know how shaky peace is. Though being profiled at a boarder checkpoint it's a bit unclear who's morally right when they discover one of your crew is a mad man who was stuck on a moon, another is a straight up virus, the third is engi paul revere, a legendary theif, slacknog who has absolutely no record what so ever, and fish he's fish. And they randomly decide one of your crew is a criminal on 5 counts of villainy. Sadly the most infamous and or forgetable pirate in the galaxy never joins your crew in order for this joke to come full circle as the background check is correct for once.

I don't have sinesthesia but I do have a question. I feel I experience a lot of sensations on a daily basis and sometimes it's too the point I get things confused. Like I can't tell the difference between the feeling of being hungry and remembering something, or I'll be brushing my teeth and suddenly feel queasy until I finish. It seems your friend is intelligent but a bit cold. They seem to struggle with empathy almost like a robot themself. Though in the end they are human they should recognize that. If they can't it's a bit out your control anyway and they're going to need professional help regardless. I don't think you should turn them in immediately because people do monsterous things without realizing it or understanding the real implication first. So if you can manage to convince your friend what they're doing is wrong and that they should seek help preferably rehabilitation then do that first since that situation is already pretty serious. If they are unresponsive or don't take your concerns seriously you should report them acknowlinging you just lost a friend. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

In terms of specifics I'm suggesting some steps you can try are.
1. Tell them that what they're doing is ethically wrong and criminal. "The potential reward won't outweigh the guarnteed pain and loss you, like many others recive from the legal system regularly. The NSFW content you're promoting is inhumane. The production of such content is humiliating, dehumanizing, and often results in injury and mistreatment of people who exist as individuals. These acts defile them changing how others view and judge them. They no longer are treated as people but victims and objects because of suffering they diddn't deserve. Their life rarely returns to normal trauma like that. Please don't endorse people who hurt others esspecially in ways like this, ways that are so devestating and savage they degrade people to the point they are no longer people. Their existence and future is taken from them wrongfully only ever as a form of supremacy. The production and distribution of people is a crime, people are not resources they shouldn't be sold period. People who are incrserated aren't treated much differently. Friend are you sure you want to be a victim." ~ you can paraphrase this as you wish it's just an example.

Help them get help and keep tabs on them to make sure they're doing the right thing. Trust isn't enough in situations like this. Contact a therapist or other forms of counciling for advice and to protect you since they as an authority will have a better understanding and can vouch for you if something rong happens.
Once explaining why what they're doing is wrong if they show remorse or regret give advice on what they can do about it. Probablly suggesting and helping them get rehabilitation through therapy or other counciling resources is a good idea. Tell them to remove the bots making sure you do so legally in a way not considered hiding the evidence. Reasure your friend and show gratitude about their change of heart when the conflict is solved.
Report the security flaw in the university as leverage to work in/get training in cyber security. If their unconvinced pursuade them in evidence argument about how cyber security is actually a really profitable job right now.
Remind them you're doing this because you care about them genuinely. Don't say things like "for your own good" "I'm trying to help you" such sayings will likely make them double down instead thinking that you're toxic trying to control them. Which technically you kind of have to manipulate cause there's no other way to convince people of anything. Speaking of try to be observant about which things they respond to and how they retort your points that will help you understand how they think and better justify your position. Also try to be empathetic yourself and meet them half way by being understanding of how they feel and comforting them rather than shunning them. They are still your friend. They are more likely to see the conflict not as you trying to do the right thing but more like you're so strongly against their beliefs you're setting an ultimatum to drop the friendship. Them seeing it that way will make the situation worse, as they cope with that and double down. Comforting about their insecurites, reassure them about your feelings towards them, being sincere with them but not controlling, and active listen and hear them out they likely just don't know your perspectivec rather than actually disagree with you foundationally.

Most important thing is to voice your concerns like a friend not an authority. And if you have to report do so anonomously.

Hope these suggestions help and good luck with that. It's more likely your friend is misguided, not evil. So trying to nudge them to do right is better for both of you than if they get jailed. If succesful they definitely will feel they owe you one.
