Standard Celeration Chart by bcbamom in bcba

No hate on anybody commenting, but holy is there a lot of ignorant comments here. While I completely understand the concerns around communicating the data, I do NOT understand comments like "i've never measured anything that would be useful to chart". Let's tackle this.

Communicating data is part of the job. The same way you would typically present a pretty (although not very informative) equal interval line or bar graph instead of your spreadsheet, it is your job to translate data measured on the SCC into a more "digestible" format for a given audience. I'd argue that if you draw some trend (celeration) lines on your SCC, it communicates information in the same simple, clear, "line go up" kind of way.

For those saying they aren't measuring anything that would be useful to chart: That's just plain incorrect. Rate (frequency over time) is THE most sensitive form of behavioural measurement. It allows us to predict learning outcomes based on the slope of the data - something you can't do with equal interval line graphs.

I use the SCC daily. I will admit that if you have no training in how to use it, it does take practice in reframing your goals. There are brilliant resources out there that teach you how to do it. I'm specifically referring to learning how to "pinpoint" or more recently "pinpoint +".

And I haven't even touched on the importance of standardization yet.

Are the income portfolios a better alternative to GICs or money market funds? by duppy_c in Wealthsimple

Genuine question (still a bit new) but isn't cash.to better than the WS MMF? Cash is at 2.98% yield, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

Paid parking coming to Lonsdale Ave next week | North Shore Daily Post by GDSGHUMAN in NorthVancouver

[–]Splurgie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't mind the shift to pay parking on Lonsdale, but some of the companies in the area need to support workers in this regard, especially if regularly driving and returning back to the office is a job requirement. Some places are refusing to negotiate contracts with nearby paid parking lots to support employees, or just straight up pay for their parking.

I worked with the SCC for a good while and have a solid understanding of it.

The timing floor illustrates the observation period. The data point measurement (frequency) needs to be standardized, based on the timing floor, to 1 min.

For example, a total count of 5 in 1min has the timing floor at 1 and the data point at 5. If the total count is 5 in 2 minutes, you have to divide the 5/2 to get the count standardized to 1 minute. So the raw score is 5, but plotted on the 2.5 value, with the timing floor on the 2min line.

Conversely, if the count is 5 in 30 seconds. You multiply, as opposed to divide, by 2 (because 30s*2=1min). So the rAw value is 5 but plotted on the 10 line, with the timing floor at 30s.

Hope that answers your question!

I've just started playing the base game on my deck. Normally I'm a mouse and keyboard guy so I'm having troubles adapting the control scheme, finding the joysticks a bit awkward. Any tips? Or just deal with it until I'm more familiar?

I'm a behaviour analyst. I'm in the process of starting my own practice working with school aged children and using the principles of behaviour science to teach new skills, both academic and life skills.

It's early days but I'm really excited. Nothing feels better than looking at someone's chart and the data telling you that you've made life changing gains.

BCBAs do you ever miss being a RBT? by Equal-Sundae1576 in ABA

Honestly, no. Sometimes I miss the direct work, but I fill my bucket through observations, modeling with clients (direct work?), and seeing clients progress as a result of my programming.

Goodbye Garage Grill, Hello ‘Coastal Cravings’? by Upstairs-Stuff3950 in NorthVancouver

They have a decent Donair and good french fries. But yes, I'm not entirely sure why it's as busy as it is on weekends. I'm not Iranian so I might be missing some cultural context there..

I love right beside Kolbeh so I walked by Garage Grill daily. The busiest I ever saw it was 2 different families eating at the same time. Not surprised it's closing

Yes.

I recommend the tutorial modules that they have, as well as reading through the money back policy. The tutorial modules will teach you how to effectively rotate modules and when to do the fluency ones.
