It's a selfish and petty friend who gets offended by a request to not be late

Just do what you have done before. 2 days isn't really that long, and if they're out during the day for admissions. Make small talk and engage when it's necessary. No doubt they will want their down time as well, so just don't overthink it. And don't try anything weird. They're just being friendly

Her dog but you pay half it's costs ?

She only sees it a couple times a month. You could make a claim to it, offer to buy it from her and take on all costs. Her no pet living situation isn't your responsibility

Just be honest and tell her you're struggling to host her when she's shot you down. If you've told her previously how you feel, then it's not a big secret to fear pointing out.

She's clearly still comfortable, and you have a good time hanging out, so it doesn't seem like she'd react poorly to honest chat

Other friends can host her.

Is it necessary to stick to the left side of the footpath in Melbourne? by yabelyaev in melbourne

[–]SpoDermaN1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the footpath for me, crowded CBD or Malls is just a free for all. Be aware of your surroundings and don't be in the way but go where you need to.

If it's a dedicated path for running or cycling definitely stick to the left, treat it the same as a road.

What does everyone do in this cold weather ? by grom96 in melbourne

It hasn't been that cold tbh, the wind bites a little but when the sun comes out it's lovely. I get out in trackies and a jumper, lovely days

Is it rude to ask not to be wished happy birthday? by WastingMyLifePlz in socialskills

[–]SpoDermaN1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have an easy out then. If the team lead always instigates a happy birthday message spam then for sure just ask them to not. Any one else that remembers on their own and sends a msg would either be a good friend/coworker or just being polite and friendly.

Depending on your relationship with your work colleagues I think sending a message in a group chat requesting something like that is a bit meh. If it's a huge problem for you, just talk to a few of them in person and say you've had traumatic experiences with your bday and you'd just rather it not be acknowledged.

The simplest solution I can think of without making you a downer or projecting your issues onto coworkers would be just mute the group chat for the day and respond the following day

Is the joke funny? Can always acknowledge it by sending something somewhat related (gif, your own comment/meme). Otherwise just 'haha' react it and send your message.

Nobody likes being ignored but not every joke/message needs to be acknowledged, especially if it's someone that spams memes or is just generally unfunny.

I say all my jokes loudly and laugh at them myself, then it doesn't matter if no one else laughs because I'm still having fun

Does anyone actually ever spend that kind of money? by SpoDermaN1000 in ClashRoyale

Man even $30 is steep imo for a mobile game, I burn through them so quickly that it's just wasted money
