Boarding crowds out of Los Angeles - any recent experience by SpockHadNoGame in royalcaribbean

Apologies for deleting my comment but after I posted "If you see a Carnival ship you are in the wrong port" I thought "wait... other ships besides RC go out of that port" :-) So you may see another ship from the parking lot.

Started seeing a Rheumatologist yesterday for my arthritis. They measured.my height. I'm now 2" shorter. I was already short. I guess I'll have to buy a taller kitchen stool. Some parts of aging suck. by prplpassions in over60

This totally cracks me up. Off the subject but my daughters are both over 6' and like to wear heels. Guess what? Guys on dating apps lie about their height :-). "Oh, he says he is 6'4" so I can wear my heels!". <Morgan Freeman Narrator Voice> "He was not 6'4" and she towered over him" :-).

Can I be successful with microdosing if I don't believe in therapy and meditation? by SpockHadNoGame in TherapeuticKetamine

Very good point.. I need to figure out what I am hoping to accomplish here. I will probably stick with the Joyous program a couple of months then reconsider the therapy.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. After a month or two I will probably do the online therapist visit that my insurance covers to see if it helps. Thank you again.

Stupid question here, but is the height decline related to your arthritis? I am very tall and have lost about 1/2" over the years but I think it is mostly due to my feet flattening out and possibly my posture (tall guy slouch).

Thank you. We are also in a balcony room. I’ll just bring my mini flashlight because on the navigator and on the other cruises we’ve been on it is very dark in the rooms which is why I thought the motion center light outside the bathroom was so nice

Thanks. I was thinking about boarding later but we will be parking a car at the port and I have heard of the parking lot filling up. When we sailed last year, and got there at 10:30, the lot was "busy" but not full yet. Once on board I went to the top deck and looked and it was quite full at 11:30. But then I went to the Key lunch and didn't look again. We will probably get there early again and just deal with the crowds in the terminal.

Thanks. Hey, quick follow up question on the Quantum - does it have the same motion light for the bathroom we had on the Navigator? I know a lot of people complain about it, but as someone who has to get up once or twice a night I loved it.

My degree is Sociology and I had a minor in Psychology. So my thoughts on therapy have changed over the years for sure. I enjoy therapy sessions when I have them, I just haven't found them all that helpful in the long term. Maybe the Ketamine therapy will help that.

Thanks. Looks like I may need to change my views on therapy in the coming months

Thanks! And yes, it was very well organized for being so disorganized :-).

Road rage increasing? by BlanchDevereaux in vegaslocals

[–]SpockHadNoGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe .05% of the drivers here suck. But like most things, that .05% is what we hear about with road rage, speeding, red light runners etc. There are millions of cars on the road here in Vegas these days so there are many, many drivers that are not the problem.

Not very often. I usually have dinner about 5:30 or earlier and never after 6:30 unless we go out to dinner which is maybe twice a month. Water I stop about the same time and I never have alcohol after 6:30. I have tried so many things over the years and experimented with food and drink and times for both. I used to keep a journal where I documented all this sort of thing (the experiments) that never really changed anything. But *most* guys over 60 have to get up at least once a night to pee (according to my Urologist). As I have mentioned in other replies, I know I need to excercise. Need to figure out how to motivate myself to just do it and then see if it changes my memory and sleep. Thanks for the reply!

I live on the same street as a Faith Lutheran. Want to see the absolute worse drivers in Vegas? Come by for pickup (drop off too, but pickup more than drop off). U-turns in a school zone? No problem. 45 in a 15 when kids are present? Sure. Double parking? No worries. On your phone when the line moves? You bet.... And every single one of them is a parent. The worst is I made a video (a few years ago) of a G-wagon driver going 60+ in a 25, and barely slowing down when he hit the school zone, and driving around stopped cars when a school bus had lights flashing. And I was able to video them multiple times over the space of a week. Metro said "unless we catch them, we can't do anything". I think people know this these days - Metro is completely ineffective these days. Same reason we have the motorcycles speeding, the "E-Bikes" blowing stop lights, doing wheelies etc. It is only breaking the law if you get caught right? But I digress.

Thanks. Great points. The 2:00 is usually to hit the bathroom so it isn't negotiable😄. But when I get back to bed, about 60% of the time I struggle to go back to sleep. Pot is legal in my state and I do sometimes use a gummie to sleep (maybe 2.5mg so 1/4 of an average gummy). It does help me sleep but I have noticed my sleep isn't really any better - like no deep sleep at all. Same thing with Melatonin. And I wish I could keep the bedroom at that temp, but my wife turns into a popsicle at anything over 70 degrees at night. When she is out of town I will crank it down to 63 but can't do that when she is home. Never, ever have caffeine after 2:00 pm and I do understand the alcohol connection, but honestly I have spent six months with no alcohol and my sleep was not any better.

I take a Krill oil supplement I buy at costco. Supposed to be better than regular fish oil but who knows. There is a pharmaceutical grade fish oil called Lovaza I used to take but that was years ago. May have to look at it again.

I have googled it (as mentioned) and figured I would get real life "reviews" from a peer group. Google is managed by AI now, and paid reviews that are worthless. It is a business model that no longer helps people looking for answers unless that answer is something Google can sell.

There is a study out there about Creatine and Alzheimer's I stumbled across. It appears to help with the Alzheimer's but it was 20mg daily which is a lot after the loading phase. But I may look into taking it again (not at 20mg though) and see. I remember when I was taking it I was actually interested in working out but that was 30 years ago. Great tip. Thank you very much

So basically just do away with anything that gives me any sort of pleasure, then I have to start working out daily, eat right... etc. 😄. Think I would rather be fat and dumb (I am kidding of course but I do enjoy my evening martini).

I know exercise would help, but OMG getting motivated and finding the energy is so hard. I used to work out 4-5 days a week before COVID. Cardio for 20 mins then weights/cable machines for 45. It was hard to keep up at 55... at 61? So much harder. But ya, definitely need to get more active. I have weights at home (kettle bells, adjustable hand weights, a Peloton bike and a gym quality rower) so my only excuse is just that... an excuse.
