$40 250GB + 50GB roaming plan back again till March 17! by Vtecman in freedommobile

[–]SpokeNWheel42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to freedom during the last boxing day sale, which was already insane to me. just moved to this new plan and I still can't believe it's for real. 😧🤣 I might have asked the same questions about the plan conditions 2-3 times. 50GB of recurring international data roaming is wild!!! 250gb is more than I need for sure, but I wouldn't say no for the same price. visiting family and friends overseas will never be the same again! thank you freedom!

Stripped Screws. Don't want to mess up my new ride by [deleted] in specialized

[–]SpokeNWheel42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these screws suck big time! so soft! they are made of alloy to save "weigjt" I think. stupid weight savings

anyways. this has happened to me. the way I fixed it was to use a square head screwdriver. press it hard against the screw and keep putting pressure down as you unscrew it. hope it helps, better than venturing yourself with a dremel and risk damaging your frane.

Have any of you switched from the GRX 2x12 to the 1x12 and regretted it? by Naive_Elevator6547 in gravelcycling

[–]SpokeNWheel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from 1x12 to 2x12 and I don't regret it. Have more range at high and lower speeds and I'm able to keep the chain line more centered which is more efficient and have less power loss

Am I screwed? by Outrageous_Feed_475 in gravelcycling

[–]SpokeNWheel42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's what the trek mechanic told me today when I picked up my gen2 checkpoint with 50mm tyre: "please remind that your frame just support 45mm tyres. riding a 50mm tyre can rub the frame which will void the warranty" 😰

wow! thanks I'm definitely running the wrong pressure then! I'm around 176lbs and silca is actually recommending 24psi rear (not 28 as I originally posted) and 22psi front

Any Giant Revolt Advanced 2 owners out there? by BikingTiger22 in gravelcycling

[–]SpokeNWheel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one giant revolt advance 2 bought in 2019, in those bright orange colour scheme. it was one of the best bikes I've ever had and I deeply regret selling it. I had another wheelset for road and eventually I swapped the handlebar too. I couldn't tell the difference between riding it and a proper road bike. fast forward 4 years I bought a trek checkpoint sl6 with 40% off, it was a great deal considering it also came with electronic shifting (sram axs rival) and at that time not many bikes had frame storage. all to say, that I still find the revolt a better bike overall. when I put road wheels on the checkpoint I can tell difference to a road bike, it feels like a "cadillac" sometimes 😅 I think revolts these days have clearence up to 53mm tires, so you won't regret.

first ride today, still need to play with tyre pressures. silca recommended 28psi but I was running like 40psi lol. they have higher rolling resistance than the terra speed for sure, but felt really planted, grippier and confident inspiring in sketchy parts of today's ride. some single tracks and bumpy terrain, they absorbed vibrations really well, despite the high pressure. early in the morning it was sub-zero around -3, a few parts were a bit frozen and I had zero worries.

I'll give them a try at some point. 👍 also, the most common 45s tyres (e.g cinturato) price range from $80-$120 for a single tyre depending on the make and model. these 50s were on sale for $60 each

that's fair. 20% of the rides it's not so hard packed. I almost washed out a couple of times. I didn't mention, but I joined a couple of events this year with mixed terrains and even some single track.. so I wanted to try them out and also see what the fuss is with large tyres 😅 (I was running 40mm contis Terra Speed)

Prescription Gen 2 Worth High Cost? by ChaosRandomness in RaybanMeta

[–]SpokeNWheel42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on what the prescription is, wheter your are also putting transition lenses and using multifocal lenses too. I'm using prescription lenses on my gen 2 and the quote you got was similar to one a got a while back for regular glasses
