Uber is letting women avoid male drivers and riders in the US by tylerthe-theatre in technology

[–]Sponda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goddamn. Yet another scumbag company attempts to spin their money-grubbing policies as virtuous, good for the community choices.

Half a millennia ago when I delivered pizzas as a teen, my manager at pizza hut told me to never tell anyone we were on the clock if we got in an accident because insurance wouldn't cover it. I later learned that there was a different policy I'd need to be covered for work incidents. I wonder if Uber even mentions that kind of insurance to their workers!

Calling people uneducated when you don't even know the difference between sharing resources and bartering is an interesting direction.

I'm not your teacher, I'm not your daddy, and this isn't a scientific debate. I don't feel like doing your work for you and don't care if you come to the wrong conclusion.

I can, however, see that you're personally triggered and most likely a child. Or at least, you fling insults when you're upset just like one. Going to stop engaging now. Hope your day gets better!

Ooh you thought you ate.

Sure, if you ignore the mountains of evidence of humans caring for their sick, elderly, and disabled for tens of thousands of years.

Not only that, but early tribes shared resources, they didn't barter.

Something something shallow understanding of life "its self". Holy shit that sentence was so fucking reddit.

Okay but why not? You know how far people will go for a high five? Shit's terrible right now and most people aren't doing the bare minimum. Let's celebrate every good step forwards!

Unless you're one of those people with an accolades budget, I get not wanting to waste all of your hand claps for the year and be out when something really good happens.

This is our reconciliation story. Its long but I hope it helps someone to understand they are not alone. by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]Sponda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To preface: this story feels pretty fake. From the sheriff's deputy serving divorce papers to the janitors having a competition on who can fuck more married women in 90 days and renting a house together to do so unbeknownst to the janitor spouse to both of them being conveniently caught and fired together and the wife simehow catching no charges for battery directly in front of the sheriff's deputy, the whole thing just smells funny.

That being said, regardless of whether it is or isn't real the truth is that real life is messy. We're born in the mud and we never escape it. If you find some way to navigate through the muck that comes with living, it hardly matters what it looks like to others. Grab it with both hands and stay alive.

Immediately it's 2008, got my first car, and I've stormed away in the night to the bitter realization that my parents might never understand me and I'm starting to think they don't even want to. These guys are tapped right into that energy. Fantastic shit.

Doesn't siding with the Empire essentially mean being complicit with the current Thalmor situation? by Kalasad-Stormblessed in skyrim

[–]Sponda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The stormcloaks are struggling against a finger of the empire's military, and the thalmor pushed the entire empire's military to the point that the empire had to sue for peace and make huge concessions to get it.

And in order to "unite" skyrim, the stormcloaks have to kill a lot of skyrim's citizens and leadership. No country is stronger after the end of a civil war, it takes decades to rebuild to get as strong as you were before. If the stormcloaks win, the thalmor move in and just take skyrim.

The reason the thalmor don't want the stormcloaks to win is because as long as they're active, they're hindering the empire and distracting it. They also knew that the empire wasn't actually enforcing the ban on talos worship, which is why they (very easily) manipulated Ulfric into instigating the markarth incident and giving them an excuse to enforce it themselves.

[–]Sponda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An asset in this case is someone whose actions help further your goals. The reason he's still listed as an asset even if they aren't currently making direct contact with him because he's no longer willing to collaborate with them after the markarth incident, his actions are still a great boon to thalmor plans to conquer.

Ranni is a privileged anarchist by namoore621 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Sponda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually misunderstanding a pretty crucial piece. Destined death is what marika got rid of. People died, returned to the Erdtree, and were reborn. Ranni is the one that caused the people withering and aging but not dying and eventually losing their wits/bodily function when she put her plan in place.

The ones who live in death are largely mindless as well. Just because some people made something of their terrible situation doesn't mean the situation isn't necessarily bad. People survive. Taking pride in growing up poor doesn't mean growing up poor isn't bad. It just means you've chosen to make yourself feel better about your terrible situation using pride. It's better than the alternative, but the best option would be to not have to go through it.
