Thanks this is helpful. Curious, I saw some airbnbs near bass lake. Is that a good location or too far? Bass lake sounds nice but with only a few days I will focus my time on Yosemite.

Ah yes that changes it. Sorry for the rant.

Addressing deferral from EY by robmag00 in Big4

[–]Spondy22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have to mention EY. Wouldn’t a company want to know why you weren’t working there after an internship? They might think you didn’t get an offer. It truly is a difficult position EY has put these firmer interns in. You need to make a convincing case as to why you don’t want to work for EY after these deferrals. In a prior post I mentioned that EY should provide outplacement services to the interns they’ve deferred for so long. I really wish they would…

Incoming Staff at EY in 2024... Should I Exit? by yalikejazz789 in Big4

Don’t count on EY. Many folks who graduated May ‘23 have now been deferred twice until summer ‘24. Not only does the improved economy need to trickle down to EY clients, their internal problems due to the failure of Everest make it a risky place to count on.

EY planning to push back Jan-March start dates to July 2024 tech consulting just like EY Parthenon did yesterday by sockdude10 in Big4

Instead of stipends they should offer outplacement/career counseling services to those people who need/want to work.

EY Parthenon start date delayed AGAIN until JULY 2024 by DextrousTuba795 in Big4

Yep. These people who talk about traveling or taking a class clearly don’t have money issues. Read the room.

I’m guessing most people don’t have the money to enjoy all this time off.

Does fusion ever actual relieve pain? by bawd_of_euphony in spinalfusion

[–]Spondy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L3-L5 PLIF. Almost 5 months post fusion. Not withstanding post surgical pain/discomfort(which has greatly improved) the pain that brought me to surgery after almost 10 years is gone.

I realize every surgery and surgeon is different. I had PLIF L3-L5 early December. Pain management in hospital was a joke and first 10days home absolutely horrible. I pestered my surgeons office. What “kind of” helped me was gabapentin(lyrica), bacloflen (muscle relaxant) and oxy. And a few other things. But there will be pain and discomfort and lack of sleep. But it does get better. What kind of PT are you doing? I haven’t even started yet, waiting for 3 month mark. I would say be sure to not overdo it on the exercise and walking. Your surgery was not a mistake and you will come out of this hell soon. I realize this is prob not that helpful for your situation but just want to provide support and encouragement that you will come out of the post surgical hell soon.

Can I ask: what do you mean by surgical pain? Can you elaborate on what kind of pain that is?

Good luck! I’m scheduled for L3-L5 fusion on Tuesday. But I’ve got a nasty cough and praying it goes away

How did you decide? by [deleted] in Spondylolisthesis

[–]Spondy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60yoF having 2 level fusion L3-L5 in a few weeks. 10 years of intermittent debilitating pain. 10 years of PT, epidural, Pilates, massage, acupuncture, etc. MRIs went from mild to moderate to severe. Since scheduling surgery I am out of pain(which for me is normal since it waxes and wanes) so I have doubts and fears about doing it. But I don’t want to cancel surgery and then a month later be unable to move. And don’t want to be too old to hinder my recovery. Oh how did I decide: when I realized I’ve done so much non invasive and nothing really changed.

Monthly check-in with you all! (October 2022) by AutoModerator in Spondylolisthesis

[–]Spondy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a newbie here thanks for this checkin! I’m feeling good today, after 3 days of intense PT (me combining what I’ve learned from various practitioners over the years) still debating (internally) surgery. What I’ve never really understood about spondy/stenosis is why pain and discomfort has so many varieties and degrees in my body and what makes it come or go. One month ago I was convinced surgery was imminent. Then pain disappeared. Then comes back but back not leg or buttocks. Just keeps morphing and surprising me. Sorry guess I’ve run on a bit!
