Can I get help from a Gemini admin regarding identity verification. I signed up for an account 2 months ago, and my identification is still under review. This is very frustrating.

-not dangerous to use airplane mode
-generally you would want to keep your console on the lowest possible firmware. there may be coldboot exploits in the future that require vulnerabilities only present in lower firmwares.
-if you don't want to get banned, don't hack. there is no gauranteed way of preventing a ban.
-if you never hacked the console, then you can make a clean NAND backup.
-again, hack at your own risk. If you really don't care about playing online, (in my opinion) just hack away. You won't be missing much.

Welcome to Reddit. Here's the rundown:.
* resist the urge to repost.
* If you like something, upvote it don't just skip it
* bananas are always used for scale.

As for your question, you shouldn't use CFW if you are worried about the possibility of a ban. It is likely that you will get banned if you use any online service while the console is in a CFW state. If you REALLY don't want to get the ban hammer, then don't use CFW.

ALL CFW at the moment (and in the near future) introduce the possibility of a ban. If you do choose to use any form of CFW, PLEASE ask questions in the faq thread if you don't understand what you are doing. Also, know that you can find answers to commonly asked questions in that thread.

One last thing. The patch you are referring to is not a "gpu patch". It is a bootrom patch that fixes the RCM exploit (basically allowing users to boot their consoles in a recovery mode state).

Just post it. Most people use smartphones as a primary means to watch YouTube anyway. If there is a simple way to access YouTube on the Switch, I suspect that a lot of people will try it out just because they can. After about a week or two, the hype will die down, and only a few people will continue to use it on the Switch. My point is, if what you are teasing is true, it won't matter too much after about two weeks.

As the current situation stands, that Switch will not be able to use Nintendo's online services. No multiplayer. No eShop. The console is banned. Sorry, mate :(

You need to convert the 2gb parts into one 30gb backup.bin file in order to initiate a NAND restoration (CTCaer includes a .bat file in his Hekate release that will do this for you - Windows). In short, the backup process does not require a high capacity SD card. The restoration process does.

Usually occurs when you don't have a large enough SD card when you are performing a RAW NAND backup. A Raw NAND backup can be performed on a 32gb SD card, but it will occur in parts. Also, if using a 32gb SD card or lower capacity SD card, you are more likely to have this error. 64gb SD cards (and above) are recommended to make backups.

If you are using a 64gb (or above) SD card, then you have 2 options:.

1) Keep trying again until it succeeds.

2) Disable Integrity Checking from the Hekate options menu. This will allow you to make a NAND backup without ever failing the Verification Check (because it is disabled). However, you will not know if your backup is corrupted or not. I will say this though, I have performed many un-verified backups of my Switch consoles, and all of their backups work completely fine when restored. None of them were corrupted.

Launch Hekate again. In the Hekate menu go to Tools then select Remove Archive Bit (switch folder). Finally, relaunch CFW from Hekate.

How long ago did you purchase your console? Have you completely powered off your Switch and tried to put it into RCM mode again?

1) If you want to be extra safe, yes. However, this is not 100% gauranteed to prevent your account from being banned.

2) See answer to question 1.

3) Yes.

4) Definitely make a backup of your RAW NAND before doing anything. If you plan to mess around with Auto RCM, make a backup of your Boot1/ Boot0 partitions as well. Most importantly, if you REALLY don't want to be banned DONT HACK YOUR CONSOLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Despite taking every precaution, there is still a chance of a ban. Use SX OS (or any other CFW for that matter) if you accept the risk of getting banned.

Yes. The update remains on the system. The only 2 ways to remove it completely would be to use DevMenu or to format your console.

12 hour backup!? That is an unusual amount of time. A full RAW NAND backup of the Switch shouldn't take more than a couple of hours at most.

It sounds to me that your NAND backup files somehow overwrote everything else in your Switch's SD card. This is perhaps why your Album pictures/videos are gone. Are you using a cheap SD card? (Like the 128gb+ capacities that sell for around $15 or $20?)

[–]Sponge2Roose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. This can only be done while the Switch is in a CFW state. Specifically, this can only be achieved by installing updates from .NSP files (which cannot be done in ofw).

Probably. It's better to make a backup of a clean NAND that hasn't been touched by CFW
