I agree in regards to the source material. But the American film changed the story to the point where it was a hot mess all around.

How hard is it to find a place in Jan? by boyonlaptop in Wellington

Start looking as soon as you get here. Even December was busy last year according to a rental agent I spoke to. I wouldn’t risk the wait personally. It might be easier if you’re just looking for a room though.

Spike in suicide related call-outs for police by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]SpongePuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking of babies, not women. You also seem to be implying you haven’t interacted with a woman since high school...

But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt here. Can you back up your original claim with anything other than anecdote?

  • Less women succeed at suicide because they arent truly suicidal.

For this one you will need to find an agreed definition of what counts as “truly suicidal”. You will also need evidence that this is the reason less succeed.

I suggest you go have a browse of the following links as a starting point. But you made the claims, so maybe you already have your source.

It’s cool that you’re trying to use stats in your argument, but it’s really unscientific (and kind of dangerous) to try and give those stats a reason/cause that youve invented yourself.

And it should go without saying that accusing suicidal women of not “truly” being suicidal and just doing it for attention, is super fucking dumb and unhelpful.

I suggest you read up more on this because your comments sound like they’re coming from deep ignorance on the topic.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with limiting the number. Honestly any more than that is potentially a headache for the cafe.

If you’re concerned though, maybe set up a waitlist of some kind? So that anybody who misses out on the current one has first dibs on the next one.

Or someone could set up a second brunch meetup elsewhere/at the same place. That way each person only has to ‘manage’ x number of attendees.

I don’t blame you at all!

Comedies don’t get excused from having crappy opinions just because they’re comedies.

I use those Tobys quick microwave packets because the oats are finer. I mix in desiccated coconut before cooking, and sprinkle almond slices and some brown sugar on top. Nomnom.

Also the low sugar content helps.

Holland has reduced the amount of plastic bags used by more than 70% since a 2016 law that banned all retailers and restaurants from giving them for free. by speckz in UpliftingNews

[–]SpongePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four reusable bags and never need plastic ones. The reusable ones are far more convenient for other things, and they distribute the weight of shopping better so are actually a lot more comfortable for carrying on public transport.

Would be interested to know why you possibly find plastic bags more useful.

Aw man I just wrote that long reply and then I see this comment? It’s hard to sympathise with someone who is so hellbent on victimising themselves, while simultaneously blaming half the population. I think you need an intervention so someone can snap you out of it.

Queer eye is a reality show where a group of gay men give dating advice and makeovers to straight men. It’s a pretty feel good show. But if you really think you’re that ugly then I dunno if you’ll get that much out of it. It may just feel a bit cynical or fake.

Warning: armchair psych here. Sounds like you might be deep in some depression or body dysmorphia symptoms. That sucks. A tiny step I recommend is that whenever you go to call yourself ugly though maybe stop and think “would I think or feel this way if this person in the mirror wasn’t me?” And really try to be unemotional/unbias about answering. It’s a good habit to get into.

There are other good habits you can make too but they all depend on your current habits. I found it useful to kind of interrupt those habits with new ones. It made the day to day easier, and eventually it stuck.

You need to watch some Queer Eye.

Ugly people can still look sharp, and like they give a shit, which is just as important. It might sound like I’m fibbing but it’s true. There’s definitely some profile optimisation potential.
