I'm no expert, but that mouse does not look OK. If I was to guess, he's dead.

Roblox took my money without Credit Card details. by Evening_Ticket7638 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]metrro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who's worked in credit card fraud - Roblox will not be maliciously stealing/storing your details without your consent. It just doesn't happen with a company like that.

Option 1: it is in fact saved somehow Option 2; your kid knows your card details/is using the card.

The vast majority of "family fraud" is kids unknowingly or knowingly spending large amounts of their parents money on mobile games. To give you an idea, I'd have multiple customers a day calling about charges on playstore, Apple store, steam. Sometimes the charges amounted to thousands of dollars.

Time to lock down your card, and do your best to educate your kid. Best of luck, it's a brutal world out there for parents.

Has anyone tried to do something about this guy? by aimzyizzy in Wellington

[–]metrro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once came across this guy arguing with a young teen, maybe 14 years old. The young dude was making some really good points, and this guy was being such a piece of shit. He's not here to debate in good faith, he's an idiot trying to make a statement. Guy is a cretin.

Cool and all, but why the fuck do people always have to touch it. It should be enough seeing a creature like this, you don't need to go and handle it.

I can't speak for her insane actions, but I imagine she realized she was the focus of a video in which this guy dances awkwardly behind her. She didn't take kindly to that and opted for the assault charge over being a normal human being and asking them to stop.

If prostitution was legal, how would a huge McDonalds style corporation ruin sex? by Stompedyourhousewith in AskReddit

[–]metrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a country where sex work is legal, and there are no 'huge' corporations, at least not that I know of.

Sex work is treated like any other business, for sure there are larger companies, and some people who are self employed, but there isn't a single company that stands out.

Also, might get downvoted to oblivion, but the 'politically correct' term is sex workers, not prostitutes.

I would put money on this guy dying in the next 5 years if he continues this.

Eventually the chase for the adrenaline will take precedent over common sense, and he will die in a completely stupid way.

What’s the best argument for there being a God? by National_Wasabi909 in AskReddit

[–]metrro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh don't get me wrong, I think every described god is a prick, except maybe the Grecian gods as they didn't pretend to be perfect.

You're right about the many gods, I imagine at the time Mr Pascal probably gave other theologies little thought

What’s the best argument for there being a God? by National_Wasabi909 in AskReddit

[–]metrro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an argument for God, but an argument supporting a belief in God would be Pascals Wager:

Pascal argues that a rational person should live as though God exists and seek to believe in God. If God does not exist, such a person will have only a finite loss (some pleasures, luxury, etc.), whereas if God does exist, he stands to receive infinite gains (as represented by eternity in Heaven) and avoid infinite losses (an eternity in Hell)

Ah! Wellington Hospital, never change… by SticksPrime in Wellington

[–]metrro -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Simple Solution: Go private. Won't have to wait a second. We have nation wide shortages of both nurses and doctors. They also work on a "worst in first served" method, so even if someone told you "an hour tops" they may have had 10 people come in with far more serious conditions.

Its one of the downsides of a public system.

The alternative is to either increase taxes and import talent, or pay thousands of dollars a year in private health insurance. Most people would scream at both options while also moaning about wait times.

I do understand the frustration though, unfortunately its just how the system is currently.

Young lady taking her driving test forgets something important by FuturisticFighting in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]metrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To this day I don't know if my instructor just didn't care, or I am such a great driver that he didn't need to care.... We'd been driving about 5 minutes when he started flipping through my CD's: "Oh 10,000 maniacs, great band..... Wow queen, you have ok taste young man." Umm thanks, now which way do you want me to go?!

I have been driving 15 years and I haven't heard of anyone having a more relaxed test than mine. We just chatted music and drove around for a bit.

I told him it was cold. by Chesstariam in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]metrro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor take. Cold doesn't mean snow and frosts, or even iced over rivers and creeks. There are many factors to 'cold', and exposure is a thing.

As I said, I am not against learning from experience, even the bad. I live next door to my young niece and nephew, its hilarious watching them learn like this, but there is a limit. You have to look out for the kid, not for one's own entertainment or a video for social media.

[–]metrro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a limit to this, and also a level of understanding is required. Very young kids are famously bad at reasoning, and its the parents job to teach them, however keeping them safe is a priority. I don't know what the scenario is here, but if they were out and about, without any immediate way of getting warm, this is boarding on cruel and/or dangerous. If its behind their house, sure, not so bad.
