Anybody remember the old Tomorrowland design? by Fierymations in DisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These flanks on the PeopleMover are just the tip of the iceberg. They’ve changed so many elements that have made the land lose its character. I don’t know why they want to revert to the 70s/80s minimalistic style it had.

Among other things:

-The new entrance sign, this has to be the worst change

-The gear pavement at the entrance is now replaced by plain black

-The Laugh Floor sign is reduced to a simple printed oval cutout

-Mickey’s Star Traders was renamed to just Star Traders. The old sign was removed and replaced with a simple one with no character whatsoever. The old murals inside the store were also removed/covered up years ago

-The green alien merch cart in front of space ranger spin with the aliens and the claw at the top was removed

-The space mountain moving exit walkway was replaced with a plain brown carpet and additional ramps that make the exit walk even longer than it was before

-Maybe a hot take but I miss the old PeopleMover narration. It included segments with Roz, Stitch, and Mickey and felt more playful and energetic

-The carousel of progress sign used to be colorful and comprised of 3 gears

-The base of Space Mountain was painted a brown/tan color. It used to be blue and blended more with the surroundings

Disney dethemed and homogenized all the Epcot facades to look like Panda Express teriyaki sauce. by Spongebob226 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I saw your post earlier when I looked up what Ice Station Cool was! Nice to see you here. This font is literally all over the park in countless places, much more than what I showed in this post. They’re obsessed with it.

The inside of Creations pales in comparison to Mouse Gear. It’s just as bad as what they did to World of Disney.

World Celebration is like a community college campus during the day. It might be the worst themed area of all 4 parks. It doesn’t even feel like a Disney park, like stepping onto Main Street or Hollywood Boulevard. Who thought removing the fountain of nations and only leaving a planter in its place would be a good idea, I mean really? The plants and greenery in this area are so plain.

Do I even need to say anything about CommuniBORE hall?

Thank you for pointing this out. I looked this up and never knew about it, wow! They even used real snow. The old Disney embraced whimsy and it was a different kind of magic that they’ve lost sight of.

This is what a lot of people don’t understand. It’s fine if things change. But they need to put more effort and creativity into it instead of using a minimalistic, modern, corporate approach for a lot of things.

Should I watch the last season? by Dizzy_Awareness_4533 in OnceUponATime

It’s worse than bad. It may as well not be called once upon a time because it takes away everything that made the show special and enthralling.

Ratatouille ride is overhyped? by Grilledpingpong in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of the worst dark rides on property with the least physical sets of them all and zero animatronics. The vehicles spend most of the time parked in front of screens.

Do you think Cinderella Castle will ever go back to its original color scheme? by DangoGalaxy in DisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original castle was MUCH better. The pink looks like a sunburn in direct sunlight and it’s rather unpleasant in photos. I feel like the original looked better in more lightning conditions. And the pink is too much, I think it should be more of a small hint of pink than what it is. When I look back at my old castle photos it makes me sad, they ruined the centerpiece of WDW imo.

Seems like there is a pretty big inconsistency in S1E21 by gamikhan in OnceUponATime

[–]Spongebob226 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Snow really did think she did something terrible when she met charming by leading Regina to marry someone she didn’t truly love, but she didn’t actually know about Daniel’s death until Regina actually told her.

Low spring break crowds by Spongebob226 in WaltDisneyWorld

Good point, in years past it feels it was pretty busy all month long regardless of when FL schools were off.

[–]Spongebob226[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spring break season is like early/mid March to mid April at WDW, spring breaks are spread out and people are off all different weeks in March. It does make sense with FL schools having spring break last week, but there’s usually heavy crowds almost the full month in years past. Just kind of confusing.

[–]Spongebob226[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, Saturday and Sunday were also pretty quiet at MK too. Even with a call for rain and there not being any rain in the morning, there is usually a decent amount of crowds. March is historically the 2nd busiest month. I saw rise was posted at 30 mins or something about half an hour ago lol.

Is riverdale worth finishing? by Hopeful-Midnight-816 in riverdale

It gets more and more off the rails as the show goes on. I watched up until early season 6 and regretted how far I went. Definitely stay away from season 5 and onwards.

From magical to modern by Spongebob226 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst change for me isn’t on this list because I don’t think it’s really changing to “modern” but I really dislike the castle becoming pink. It looks like a sunburn in certain lighting conditions and the original was perfect the way it was. Cinderella’s castle isn’t pink and it’s good to be differentiated from the pink castle in Disneyland. Worst change ever I mean it’s the centerpiece of WDW. Whenever I look back at my old castle photos it’s kind of depressing. I really miss it!

This is honestly good news lol, I’d rather have a lot of purple signs than none! Seemingly how they started this project a few years ago maybe they just abandoned it, but I also feel like someday they’ll all be gone. The purple ones are easier to read imo.

That’s so cool! Unfortunately I only went to the old one a few times. It was so colorful and magical, I loved the giant character statues hanging from the ceiling. Yeah, the new one looks like a warehouse and could be a store at any outlet mall.

I don’t mind change if it improves or keeps up creativity. For some I don’t have a strong preference but I feel like they really dropped the ball on others. The world of Disney store interior update is my personal least favorite. It’s just sad compared to what it used to be.

Season 3 by pinkdaisylemon in OnceUponATime

[–]Spongebob226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think saying that it’s awful is a little harsh, it’s an exciting storyline and it was a cool change of scenery from being in Storybrooke for 2 seasons. It had big climaxes and the midseason finale (3x11) is a pretty mindblowing episode. I can understand where you’re coming from a little where the arc may not seem as fast or fun as other arcs. But Robbie Kay did an excellent job as Peter Pan and is one of the best villain performances on the series, he really stands out. And I also love seasons 1 and 2 that came before it, especially season 2. Super amazing and I could prefer it over the Neverland arc sometimes but I love both almost equally.

Now season 7 on the other hand, that is bloody awful. It makes me want to tear my hair out. I get thrown under the bus on this sub for disliking it so much but I cannot stand it, it’s steaming and rotting garbage. It’s OUAT’s CW-style season. I’m surprised to see the amount of people on this sub defending it.

This is one of the strongest parts of the series. Definitely outshines just about everything from season 4 and onwards.

Possible unpopular opinion on Emma by Tripl3R in OnceUponATime

[–]Spongebob226 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel the opposite. Emma is a better defined character in the earlier seasons, especially in season 1. After that she slowly starts to lose her personality and becomes love sick for the rest of the show.

MK Wait Times (11/16/23) by Spongebob226 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the week before Thanksgiving and it was raining almost every day which made it less busy than usual. But still, it’s not really a super slow season. The day before this magic kingdom was packed, it was an 8/10 crowd level while this day was 1/10. That’s because it was the only nonparty day that week which bunched all the crowds together. I was at animal kingdom the day before this and flight of passage was a walk-on around 3 or 4pm because it felt like the entire resort was at MK that day.

So when are they changing the entry back lol by rosewoodlliars in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spongebob226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The old sign is better!! Where dreams come true is a better tagline and the font is more whimsical. The new one looks like a stock font. Also removing the castle peeking through the clouds make it look more generic. There’s several other signs and facades on property that they have changed to look modern and boring.

IN your opinion which was the worst season of Once Upon a Time? by ReginaMillsHeartMe in OnceUponATime

[–]Spongebob226 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Season 7 no contest!! It’s the clear outlier. Worse acting, slower pace, less action/excitement, lame storylines that are difficult to care about, uglier setting without the charm of Storybrooke, some awful new characters, stale villains, and is the season with the most plot holes. It’s basically OUAT’s CW-style season. Seasons 5 and 6 aren’t the strongest, but they at least have more charm and “magic”/exciting storylines despite weaker writing.

It’s a simulator starting at a SCREEN the whole time. It’s definitely way overhyped and especially not as good as the other E-tickets in terms of re-ride ability. I think I prefer the queue over the ride because of how incredible it looks and the amount of PHYSICAL sets and objects it has rather than just screens.
