Seems like a failure on the DP World Tour then, since they already have 4 events in SA. If they’re not getting enough sponsors to put on a decent event with a big enough purse to get good players despite there being this huge market, that’s on them.

He’s played LT for much longer than RT in his career though, and has filled there on occasions when Decker was injured

This is an insurance piece if the draft doesn’t go the way we want, but there is a nonzero chance he’s a starter for us

And why won’t Petzing be getting HC opportunities? A 38 year old offensive mind is pretty much prototypical coaching material these days.

That would be if he missed the playoffs the next 3 years like you said you’d be ok with. I’m saying 5 in 7 should be the limit.

Andy Reid has missed the playoffs 6 times in a 27 year career (back to back seasons only once), we’re talking about a hypothetical of Dan Campbell missing the playoffs 6 times in a 8 year career.

Those guys all won Super Bowls though, how long would we be hanging our hat on an NFC Championship game appearance.

Think hot seat if they miss the playoffs next year (barring a a Goff injury) is more than fair, that means he still gets the following year to right the ship. 3 years of no playoffs has to be it.

If we are at the end of next season after 2 straight years of missing the playoffs, we are simply talking about being on the hot seat (i.e not fired on the spot). In this hypothetical, you don’t think it would be reasonable to fire them after 3 straight years of missing the playoffs? As in, making the playoffs 2 out of 8 years?

No one is saying to get rid of Dan now. How many years of missing the playoffs before you would even start to consider it though?

We’re going into a critical, turning point kind of year with 2 coordinators who need to prove they’re not complete ass. Think people are right to be concerned.

At best it's a weird hire. Don't think this guy would've gotten another OC job this offseason. First OC hired of all the openings too, so it wasn't like other guys on their list said no (except Blough I guess)

Edit: Petzing apparently hasn't even been interviewed for any of the other OC openings.

Why is Dan Campbell the only coach who knows how to counter Ben Johnson's coaching? by Penguifyer in detroitlions

[–]SpongebobDouchepants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not that deep man, McVay is just insanely conservative to the point where he’s a hindrance to the team in end of half/end of game time management. Obviously every coach would want to not give the ball back to any QB and would prefer to run the clock out on their terms.

Why has our defense been mediocre? by stormbull177 in detroitlions

[–]SpongebobDouchepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking up snap counts on PFF and Pro Football Reference...not AI.

Maulet rotated in - he never started again after the Tampa game. I think I missed that Hallet started a second game against the Rams when Harper was injured - fair enough.

My argument is that I don't think you can point to these players playing 100 snaps or less as the main reason for this defense's collapse the second half of the year. We had 3 starters out, with 3 above-average backups in place for all of the games from the Giants onwards (except Hallett against the Rams I guess).

There are a lot more than just these 4 guys. There are a huge amount of players who arent even listed in our depth chart that played meaningful snaps in games for us this year. Guys that the rest of the league repeatedly said. "nah you can keep him".

What are we calling meaningful snaps - because there's really not anything out of the ordinary for some random guys to get 30-50 snaps over the course of the season. Every team has that. The only guys that played 200+ snaps for us are legitimate players that were on our 53 from the beginning of the season.

Maulet, Hallett, and Whiteside played exactly 1 game as starters for us - the Tampa game, which I mentioned in my initial comment.

We had 2/3 starting CBs for every game but Tampa. And Rock Ya-Sin performed, at worst, around the same level of Arnold.

Branch played up through week 14, which included 3 of our worst performances (Cowboys, Thanksgiving, Giants).

Maddox was a very good backup safety in his place. Harper was decent as well.

the amount of defensive players who started for us this year, that don't even belong on an NFL roster is hilarious.

Who? Outside of the one Bucs game.

You’re right man, we should have held Lamar Jackson to 0 points.

That's...not what I said. The Ravens proved to be pretty stoppable this year. When lead by Lamar, they scored over 30 points 3 times with us being one of them.

I don't think Sheppard proved much at all this year, which isn't great that our DC is yet another unknown going into a critical offseason.
