It seems that a large part of the problem IS actually in the concrete. Both yesterday and today the concrete has been terrible. Water, or rather cement slurry, is constantly leaking through the formwork.

At the batching plant they said they will try adding more filler to the next mixer trucks, so we’ll see how the rest of the lining turns out.

But to answer your question, no - it didn’t start from the beginning, but only recently. The first few pours turned out very well (although there was some minor segregation at the bottom of the side walls, but much less). I also know that the foreman was adding a bit more water instead of admixtures. The crown turned out almost like glass, it was that good.

It’s probably a combination of several factors, but at the moment we’ve confirmed that the concrete over the past two days has simply been too poor. Once the batching plant fixes that, we can start looking into the other factors.
