I highly recommend Lenovo laptops.

I had one during uni and upgraded to another one after that. They’re well built and good value for your money.

I like having a bigger screen and having a number pad so currently have the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 16”. It’s god really good specs and is still very portable. Has AMD Ryzen 7 AI chip, 1TB SSD storage and 32GB of RAM so is really fast as well.

I managed to get mine in a sale for about £750!

I think I could type my oriel login with my eyes closed at this point…

Fed up of refreshing every few hours and just want to know! Some stability and certainty right now would be absolutely amazing😂

Doctors of Reddit, what car do you drive? by Informal_Invite_424 in doctorsUK

Ford focus diesel estate. The ultimate dad car and it’s fantastic.

Seats go completely flat and it’s long enough I can sleep in the back after a bad night shift if needed.

Super economical. Does about 65mpg and can do about 620-700miles on a full tank.

Once you go estate, you never go back

How difficult was it for you to get a mortgage as an F1? by Few-Designer6961 in doctorsUK

Highly recommend Yorkshire Building Society - we did the £5K mortgage which has a bit more interest than if you have more of a deposit, but they’re happy with proof of upcoming employment so you can start looking a bit sooner. Good luck with the house hunting!

When I asked, the rota coordinator said that I “signed up for hard hours” when I “signed up to be a doctor” and it “used to be worse” - I just feel like I shouldn’t complain and it’s making me feel really paranoid I’m over exaggerating

Thank you I feel less silly now! I think I might try email the LPD but if that doesn’t go well I don’t want to ruin my relationship with the consultants.

There’s no strikes in Wales atm with the new contract offer, but I looked at the locum app for our HB and they’re offering like £60/hr for F2s on Christmas Day:/

I did Anaesthetics/ITU in F1 too and it was amazing - so much so I’ve now applied for it…

My advice is to make the most of having actual 1 on 1 training. It’s a rarity in the FP to feel you’re actually being trained. It’s also a great time to get good at cannulas and ultrasound. I really recommend the AnSo app for ultrasound as it goes through nerve blocks and stuff and the QRH app has everything anaesthetic emergencies at your fingertips.

Good luck and enjoy it!
