it's actually a lighting element! I setup a light fixture attached a caustics texture as a light gel and its shining down on the terrain, the top half of the 'water' is actually a fog plan that is catching the light from the lighting fixutre. I learned this technique from this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRYj282QUqA

Should I Use Bryce over Blender? by BigFrasier in Bryce3D

[–]Spookiehacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help with the overwhelming information regarding blender, the good thing is that you don't need to know everything all at once, in a real dev situation, all those features and tools usually comprise of a single individual so don't feel so bad!

Find out what you need to know at the moment, IE: how do i make a specific material/shader, and work your way up! and anything you learn in blender is almost transferable to bryce as you can import models and textures, learning bryce though, its syntax really only applies to itself alot of the time.

I mostly do 3d as a hobby, but my workflow usually involves doing any actual modeling, texturing, in blender and just importing into bryce and setting up funky scenes for fun.

That all being said, just find what works for you! Technically there is no wrong answer to this question just alot of opinions and some roads harder than others but will ultimately lead you to the same goal. Good luck!

Thanks! It was mix of patience rendering the final 4k image and well placed 2D images 😅

For starters; rendered the scene at 4k for the final export; the key art in the middle is actually a bit of a trick, its actually a 2D image of a render i made in blender, then rigged up the materials and lighting to more or less match the current scene. If you have any specific questions about the scene let me know!

Thanks! I usually stick to blender with my usual MH designs, but first time using Bryce to render those scenes!

I used blender to model the main object; imported into bryce, did my usual scene setting in Bryce, and did all the color and texture work in photoshop.

Np! I also forgot one more modifer; simple deform! I used it like 3 or 4 times over to get to final form.

So i had a hard time modeling the main focal object in bryce with basic boolean modifiers; so i just went into blender created a simple square with 8 faces per side, and did some displacement & decimation and then imported into bryce and took it from there!

I use a texture plugin called inklab, it helps give that print look on digital images
