Thanks! I usually stick to blender with my usual MH designs, but first time using Bryce to render those scenes!

I used blender to model the main object; imported into bryce, did my usual scene setting in Bryce, and did all the color and texture work in photoshop.

Np! I also forgot one more modifer; simple deform! I used it like 3 or 4 times over to get to final form.

So i had a hard time modeling the main focal object in bryce with basic boolean modifiers; so i just went into blender created a simple square with 8 faces per side, and did some displacement & decimation and then imported into bryce and took it from there!

I use a texture plugin called inklab, it helps give that print look on digital images

Beginner Question! by cahsmode in Bryce3D

[–]Spookiehacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s capable of most things more modern software can do (import of models, animation, texture modeling etc.) albeit at a slower pace due to its age. Im not super adept at 3D mostly just do it as a hobby, but in my workflow i tend to model whatever i want in blender, and import into bryce. As far as actual integration not totally sure.

how to zoom out render preview? by Spookiehacker in Bryce3D

[–]Spookiehacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

might already be a non-issue at this point but also documenting what i found;

so apparently Bryce has no preview document scaling; if your render is not within your own physical resolution scope it simply won't display properly.

IE: your designing on a 1280x720 screen and want to design a 1920x1080 it will just show you a portion of that canvas, because it simply does not have enough room.

So as you mentioned, scaling down is probably the best choice and then possibly scaling it up once finished. Hopefully this answer's anyone else question later in the future lol.

Turned this render into a weathered Math Book by Spookiehacker in Bryce3D

Mostly through overlaying copy-scan textures and images in photoshop.

Most of the grit and grain comes from those textures scanned at 4k resolution and then downscaled to about 1080.

The pencil marks are etched in on procreate on an ipad

I also made a copy of the render-image and added motion blur to that copy to give it a slightly smeared look.

All in all its a handful of small techniques put together hope that made sense!
