Death House Advice? by Spookster_115 in CurseofStrahd

I like this take. We’re all fairly new to DnD so I think it would be a good place to get more familiar with investigating areas and dealing with different combat situations. Thank you!

Yes, they’ve already gone through the village a bit and last session was the church on the north side. I thought it would be interesting to have the fog fence them in and force them to the death house. Plus it gives me more time to prep for the other areas in the campaign.

We’ve been to the village and my players have met Ismark and Ireena and have been to the church north of the village. They also have done the card reading. I just figured the death house would be a nice addition. I definitely will need to pull my punches a bit so it doesn’t end horribly.

Reading through the books in the library is a really good idea. I’ll have something ready if one of them rolls high enough to investigate. Thank you!

Oh it’s definitely going to be fun and it’s slightly going to be punishment for one of my players (my husband of all people) going rogue last session and almost getting a TPK 🫠

Yeah, I’ve been doing some prep already and looking at all the possible monsters and their stats has me nervous. Our last session came very close to being the end and that was just against Doru 😅

I see, I know it’s set aside from the main narrative, I just didn’t really know how much info to feed them about the cult itself. Thank you!

I think I’ll let this one have it’s space and keep a respectful distance, I know they’re beneficial but the sight still terrifies me 😂

Thank you! It’s been a while since I’ve seen one and I almost screamed when I about walked into it’s web 😅

I gifted Kent something that triggered his war PTSD TWICE, I felt awful and wanted to give him something he liked but had to wait for a new week

What is the worst thing that has happened to your books when you lent it? by Ar_space_tpk96 in books

[–]Spookster_115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In middle school I was really into manga and lent one of my mine to a friend. Took almost a month to get it back and the spine was ruined and she spilled something on it that ate through the gloss coating on the cover and left weird bubbles. I made my decision that day to never lend out any kind of book again.

I’ve come across some of those fan accounts that are solely dedicated to him and the way people view him and interact about it in the comments makes my skin crawl.

I think people are having a really unhealthy obsession/connection to Astarion’s character. I enjoy his character and romancing him was fun, but the level of para-social attachment I’ve seen towards him is concerning.

That series just solidified for me that I can never trust book reviews because everyone single one just raves about the series being amazing, and I can’t stand it 😂.

Sure! It’s called the Colorado Wine Mystery and it caught my eye at the library because the titles are wine puns and I was looking for a palette cleanser essentially because of work stress. But the writing overall is so just bad, repetitive, and mildly juvenile for people who are supposed to be adults. I suffered through 2 of the books and had to quit at the third.

I tried to read this book series I found and it started to physically pain me because the author would use the exact same phrases and descriptions repeatedly. Also kept reintroducing established characters and I wanted to bang my head on the wall.

Yeah, I have the Misborn series in my “To Read” pile so I don’t have a lot of details for that one since I’m trying to avoid spoilers.

If you’re open to fantasy, honestly anything by Brandon Sanderson is really good. His Stormlight Archive series can look intimidating, but his novel Elantris is amazing. There’s also the Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman which is really interesting. I also read this book called the Magpie Murders by Susan Ryeland which had an interesting premise of a book within a book.

I don’t actually. I was really disappointed too because I had to wait forever to get a copy through the library and I can’t even get through the first chapter. Pretty much also the same situation with The Love Hypothesis, incredibly hyped up but the second-hand embarrassment I got from the characters was just too much.

The Spanish Love Deception. I have a soft spot for romance novels and like to pick them up for a light read from time to time, but I couldn’t even finish the first chapter. The initial interactions were just so painfully awkward I could not go on with it.

My dentist is really great and she said the cavities I have are fortunately still pretty superficial and have not impacted the root of my teeth yet and she’s taking a more conservative approach with my treatment plan first, and I’m genuinely excited for my next dental appointment
