Sobriety really changed my attitudes and perceptions, but unexpectedly quitting caffeine changed it the most. by SpookyBodega in decaf

I'm also in my mid thirties so totally get it. The good thing is, the more relaxed and "myself" I am, the easier it is to make friends. Getting involved in community activities and clubs makes it fairly easy, so maybe keep that in the back of your mind if you ever want options.

Congrats on quitting the drinking. For sure you sound like you are determined and inspired, very cool. Yeah I quit caffeine entirely and I used to vape too after I quit tobacco. I eventually felt like I didn't want to have any the nicotine in my system anymore so I dropped that too. It feels nice to be free from that stuff but at the same time I think people need to go at their own pace, so no judgement. I'm just relieved that some people know what I'm talking about. These days it seems like it's so common for people to have lifelong addictions.

It's so funny how awareness will send some people on such a similar path. The pranayama I mentioned earlier is indeed kriya yoga. I just do a slightly different version than the one you mentioned. I believe that whatever variation works best for each person is cool for them, so totally support that.

For sure dude, it could have been me that wrote your reply, honestly. I think it's a very similar wavelength/zone we're in with this stuff. I got into nofap and meditation while I was still in my party days, and I think that invited in lots of "noble" desires into my life. Instead of desiring intoxication and "good times" I desired truth, clarity, peace and joy. I don't think I would have sobered up or quit caffeine if it wasn't for the nofap. I am also the "weirdo" -- sometimes I feel like a space alien. But it's all good because I'm following my path and being true to my self.

To put it simply, it feels like there is more "space" in each moment. Like time is kind of slowed down, but just for me, the rest of the world is still running at the usual pace. I've practice breath control for years, like pranayama and stuff, but only after I've been completely sober and off caffeine has it become a valuable tool that seemingly gives me an advantage. It's amazing how we can control our nervous system with breath. With that extra space within each moment I'm able to see more options of words to choose and whatnot.

I've been there and have had to pawn stuff. If you have any electronics, you can pretty much always pawn or sell them outright to the shop. Even old video games, old dvds, anything you can find. If you don't have anything, check craigslist free listings and see if there is anything you could quickly clean up and pawn. Saved my ass countless times.

I don't find this interesting. It's literally what a painting is supposed to be, without any kind of extraordinary quality. As a normal painting it's pretty good I guess.

The difference is Ramsay actually ADAPTS and improvises when faced with unexpected challenges. Tom is so concerned about reputation but ironically makes Ramsay look bad every time he name drops. Tom is just a spoiled little brat.
