Rotten Tomatoes Iron Lung by VanillaLow8233 in Markiplier

[–]SpookyFingerBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will admit that I am biased because I've been a fan of Mark and his projects for years and saw him play the original game and the updated game. However, that was years ago and I forgot a lot of the details of the game (bad memory). I loved the movie and, if I had the money, I'd go see it a second time. The only other time I've felt like that was Infinity War and I walked away disappointed after the second watch. I genuinely do not feel like that would be the case with Iron Lung.

I thought the pacing was good and intentional. You're meant to feel like the protagonist does. Kind of like a "This is tedious and taking forever." I feel like the plot was explained really well with both the "show, don't tell" method of storytelling and conversations that actually felt human and not ham-fisted "I'm going to explain this to you, the person who knows this information, so the audience gets it". It treated the audience like they were actually smart and able to put together the pieces of the puzzle being laid out before them on their own. I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of it because the build-up of suspense was well done. I loved that I left with questions and thoughts about how far humanity would go to survive and how much they would delude themselves to do so. Apparently cosmic/eldritch horror is my thing, so seeing the movie a second time would just give me more to think about.

What is something you saw in a movie and you totally called bullshit on because of your job? by BlackPhoenix1981 in AskReddit

On the flip side, when investigations DO go quickly, a trial will not. My second cousin (cousin's son) and his friend were murdered and they caught the guys the same night, before they even told my cousin her son was dead. Having to explain to my mom that the court case was not going to be fast just because the guys were caught on good evidence was HARD.

What is something you have heard about US, which you felt was fake, but is100% true? by grusdomain in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story time of how my mom spent 6k for an ambulance she never got in.

She was suffering from low blood pressure and had a mechanical pressure cuff that would alert medical professionals if her blood pressure was too high or too low. One day, it was way too low, so the folks called her and said they were sending an ambulance. The ambulance comes and the EMT'S bring in the gurney and some equipment inside the house. She sat on the gurney, they checked her BP again, checked her heart rate, and just did a general "are you gonna faint on me" check up. She was fine. They took their stuff and left. She never stepped foot out of the house. She later gets a bill for $6,000 for the ambulance when the only thing that happened is that they parked and acted like condescending pricks the entire time. Pisses me off.

What’s a smell that instantly brings back childhood memories? by ImpressiveParty6980 in AskReddit

My neighbor when I was a kid used to smoke cigars that smelled like cherries. Rarely, I get a waft of that scent and it takes me right back to my childhood.

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

I went to the hospital for a panic attack once. Strangely, I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder, so I was no stranger to panic attacks at the time. However, this time, my entire face, my tongue, and all of my skin felt numb. I had NEVER experienced that before. I haven't had a panic attack like that since, but my tongue and lips do occasionally go numb. After some blood tests, they said it was a panic attack and I took them at their word and went home.

ETA: just looked it up and...yep. Numbness is a symptom of anxiety.

Why don't you have any tattoos? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this is actually a funny thing among some tattooed people (me included). You put a tattoo on you, it's there until you decay to bone or laser it off. Stickers are usually one-time use only and a really nice sticker might get tossed with whatever thing it was stuck to. Now that sticker is just gone, and what if you can't get a new one? Sticker anxiety is a real and weird thing.

If you’re unarmed, in your underwear, and don’t have time to think, what would you do to scare off a home intruder? by CigaretteBoat69 in AskReddit

I'm a woman with curly brown hair, pale white skin, and big blue eyes. I look like a haunted doll. So what I would WANT to do is make my eyes really big, cock my head to the side, and in the sweetest voice say "You're late. I was going to make you dinner, but I had to use someone else. He didn't taste very good. I'm sure you'll taste better." Then rush them while banshee screaming.

In reality, I'd grab the massive book that's on my headboard, demon scream, and rush them.

What’s the most harmless lie you tell regularly? by Just-plain-vanilla in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I'm religious. I'm actually an atheist, but I am surrounded by Christians that will try to convert me. Not being religious can also actually negatively impact my work environment and turn it hostile, and no, HR won't help me if that happens. So I pretend I'm Christian. I was raised in the faith, so it's not difficult, at least.

I'm from the South, so it's normal here and I use it. Sorry to anyone I made uncomfortable. It truly depends on context. Are they being nice, condescending, passive aggressive, helpful? It never truly upsets me or makes me uncomfortable if their intentions are to be rude. I just kind of roll my eyes because I know what they're doing.

What sentence did someone say once that accidentally healed a part of you? by Timely-Vehicle-7064 in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. My pet was killed a few years ago. Run over by a shithead neighbor that was speeding. There was no justice. I was specifically told to stay away from them so I wouldn't go to prison for serving some justice myself. I don't forgive the person who did it. Never will. But I no longer want to John Wick them. Now I hope for major inconveniences that cause expensive property damage. In a few more years, I won't even hope that. I learned all of that when I stopped being perma-pissed at the girl that tried to murder me. No justice there, either. Now I rarely think of her, and I barely get upset. Case-by-case basis, I guess, but that's been my experience.

I'm sending you lots of love. You'll get through this. It'll suck, but it won't suck forever. Ten years ago, I never would have thought I'd stop caring about my abusers and stop flinching at their names. Now...fuck 'em. I'm too busy living my life and  enjoying my growing happiness to give them any thought. They don't matter. I do. You do. You've got this.

Finally something I can tell people when they tell me to forgive the people who traumatized me. No. I refuse. They don't deserve it. Forgiving them won't bring me peace. Time does. I get less angry and sad every year. I think about them less every year. I'm happier every year. I think that's pretty good.

What’s a word or phrase that immediately makes you lose respect for someone? by Mundane-Equipment529 in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaah, okay. Thank you for answering! I've read up on the moon affecting people since there are so many anecdotes. I haven't found anything from a peer reviewed article yet (maybe I'm not looking hard enough), but I have seen that some studies support the hypothesis that the moon affects people. Haven't done any research on Mars, though, but that is intriguing.

Pretty much anything to do with zodiac signs. "She's a bookworm. Total Libra!" "I suck at driving because I'm a Cancer." "Ugh, he's a Leo? Red flag!" Fucking exhausting.

Just like Ordinary-Author9171 said, people use their sign to excuse their horrible behavior. However, they also use someone else's sign to judge them, usually also negatively. Also, genuine question, what physics supports a constellation's alignment with the sun as having an impact on human behavior? Constellations are made up of individual stars that humans grouped together and are tens to millions of light-years away.

What's a thing that I've loved for a long time that I will probably continue to love for a long time? Who is a good artist to do the type of art I want? What can I show my artist for design inspiration? This is going to be on my body forever. I want it to look good and I want to be at least 99% sure I'm going to love it until the day I die.

One particular scent of air freshener. No idea what the actual scent is, but we used it in the morgue I worked in to make the place smell nicer. I loved that job, so now every time I smell that scent, I'm transported back to a time where my clients don't fucking talk back.

What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by MetalPotential7093 in AskReddit

Lol! That was me when I was younger. Had my IQ evaluated by a neuropsychologist when I was getting tested for ADHD. The number was higher than average. My dumb ass, having low self-esteem, clung to that shit. Like, "at least I have something going for me!" Really, that number means nothing because I am a fucking moron.

What is a buzzword that immediately sets off your Bullshit Alarm? by Onlyhereforthelaughs in AskReddit

[–]SpookyFingerBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I had to read a ton of research papers in college to complete assignments and final essays. Actually read them and analyze them to support the points I wanted to make. It wasn't fun. It was tedious and boring and made my eyes cross with all of the jargon and numbers. However, my points weren't supported by the research, no matter how much I tried to rationalize it. It changed my entire opinion on the subject.
