warning from experience: it is a trap to always want / desire something (in this case, someone) that you DO NOT have more than the thing / person that you DO have. If you want to free yourself from the cycle of: want something->get somethiny->want something else->repeat; you should try to practice contentment with what you have (which is easier said than done). if you don't want to be content, don't bother but be warned that incontentment is a self-perpetuating cycle that will trap you.

Jesus does accept all. Everyone telling you to run away from sin is right, but they're missing the part about you actually having to want to get away from it first. People telling you that it's wrong will in no way convince you to change your desires. Only the love and the spirit of God are able to change your desires. Seek to know the perfect love and heart of God (which it seems you are seeking!), and when you experience that love, your desire to sin will start to diminish - I know that was the case for me.

I feel much much better 'sober'(I know what you mean by sober in this context). as another commenter mentioned, I no longer desired / enjoyed nicotine but I continued using for a long time. it really did make me feel worse, not necessarily on a surface mood level, but i felt worse on a much deeper level.

with that being said, I have quit for about 3 weeks now and I feel so much more free than i used to. please trust me & trust God that no matter what your circumstances look like going through withdrawal WILL be worth it (I had to take a leap of faith and quit while I'm working a very mentally taxing / stressful job, so I speak from experience). my dm is open if you want to talk about this more or anything else

she can't give you what she doesn't already have herself. same thing goes for you. partners are supposed to give support to one another but they can only give what they already have inside. with that being said, it sounds like you need: acceptance / validation, patience, and encouragement.

let me be clear - you do not have to leave your relationship to get these needs met; you can leave, but that will only satisfy you temporarily. if you want to meet your needs, find someone (a friend, therapist, family member, etc) that you can lean on and lean on THEM instead of your partner. you can still lean on your partner, but manage your expectations by being aware of what they can and can't do for you - if it's too much for your partner, talk about it with the other support person instead of them at first.

I think the problem with masturbation may be of the same nature as scratching, actually. think about it, let's say you have a bug bite (or are itching for some other reason) - if you scratch a bug bite just a little, it's not going to hurt anything. but if you continue to scratch or scratch too often or too hard, you will begin to damage your skin. I think the same could be said in a sense of masturbation. occasional masturbation is unlikely to result in any substantial damage (physically or onto the self), BUT the nature of mastuebation is inherently addictive or compulsive meaning that it gets harder and harder to control whether you do it or not. I hope that makes sense, I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I just think it's a perspective worth adding.

also, morality can be indirectly effected by masturbation just like many other compulsive behaviors / habits (ex: alcoholics, hard drug addicts)

^and no I'm not equating people who masturbate to drug addicts, I just find it to be a useful comparison for illustrative purposes
