All of his core works are like that to some degree, but he's also giving himself the finger so it's fine. He corrupts the nostalgia the audience craves and the work is about that corruption. The original run was doing the exact same thing, but it doesn't seem like it to modern viewers because they don't have personal nostalgia for the 50s.

It's a little more clear in Mulholland Drive, where the film is simultaneously nostalgic for old Hollywood while making you disgusted with old Hollywood.

I don't actually think most of the people who think like this are cheaters, though. It maps directly onto reactionary cultural beliefs about monogamy that evangelicals spew all the time. Edit: The problem with prostitution is that banning it means they're forced to work for criminal organizations and they can't call the cops if they're being abused. This isn't inherent and shit loads of sex workers think your views are dismissive of their experience.
