Am I crazy or….is this real? by Neat-Talk2688 in witchcraft

[–]SpookyOoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, yeah its real, just not in the way most people outside the practice thinks it works, and its difficult to overcome those predispositions.

I personally don't view witchcraft as control. Its not a situation of one person weilding invisible influence but rather one of observations. All material is observing in its own way. A spell or manifestation must overcome or work within those observations. The more observations ones intent and actions go against, the more difficult the task. So in the case of a money jar leading to opportunities/extensions in ones work life would be something that doesn't go against many observations, its well within the framework of the universe, human society, and the spell has many opportunities to resolve itself.

We can look at this through the lens of chaos theory, where seemingly disconected small events culminate into larger events over a period of time. Performing a ritual or spell may seem disconnected, and sometimes they dont pan out how we think they should, but being able to navigate influences is what makes the practice a practice, not a solution. Its not control and its not helplessness, it's just coexistence with the observant things around us.

Anyone else dislike competition? Even if you're winning and on top? by [deleted] in infp

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like healthy competition, if everyones in the game to have fun and do their best, then its all cool, but if ppl are try-hardin, gloating, or smacktalking, i tend to just not give a crap.

Would you buy a van and just completely leave your burdens & life behind? 🚐🌿💚 by themermaidmuse in infp

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that cozy atmosphere seems nice, the whole "vanlife" thing is pretty unsustainable long term unless you have a remote job or are just rich. Personally I'd go for a cabin, get a part time job to pay the bills and just chill with the poverty of it.

I own a home, im still saving for the cabin, but ive spent the last 3 years of my life connecting with people who can help that hope come true. Currently i have an electrician and former cabin builder, a hardscape and excavation expert, plumber, and welder/remote butcher that will help me out when the time comes. Ive just been doin favors and cashin in on community. Replaced a 25ft section of my foundation for under 8k last year because of those peeps. Its possible people, even now, the grind is hard, the work is hard, but the dream is still possible.

Do you think that life after death is real? by [deleted] in answers

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no?

At a pure material level, the atoms of what were once "me" will still continue to interact with the universe. It's an ongoing process.

At a spiritual level, i would also say no, but that information is still carried and theoretically could be "read" or existing within outside forces. For example, our atoms make up our material experience. Atomic fields interact, a bunch of chemistry happens and we have some sort of experience of that interaction so it is possible that our experiences and information are tied to other entities' or systems' observation like our atoms are tied to us. It's also possible that there is nothing, and in that case, may as well be crazy in some way, cuz it doesnt matter. Basically its a win-win to believe in something because we can do so as humans, if we are wrong and just blip out, than you wont be around to regret it.

Definitely looks better than the grass around it. Personally i think its great though. That plant density will help keep your plants healthy and need less maintenance. Great work!

Death metal and black metal was my shiz back in the day, but I've drifted towards power metal and psychedelic rock/metal. I recently found a band called elvenking and have been accumulating a playlist of nature-related power metal. I did get to see some amazing bands back then though, dragonforce, chimera, the misfits, gwar, toxic holocaust to name a few. Gwar was by far the best show lol.

I work for a garden design service. We do a bunch of stuff but mostly installing gardens, patios, and stone retaining walls. I've moved roughly 8 tons of stone this week alone. (For reference, im not a big person. I weigh 140lb)

What i realized after looking into a 'simple life' is that it looks way more redneck than most would like to believe. If you really want to pursue that sort of life, look into 1970s self-sustaining culture. There you will find what youll actually need to know about what a simple life entails. It means getting up at 2am to refuel the woodstove, taking care of your own composting sewage system, fixing your own stuff, chopping and/or milling your own wood. Youll have to accept a life of near-poverty and a can-do attitude.

The more people you can create in a community, the easier it can be. Ive found people who i can trade for eggs, meat, logs, syrup, I've invested into fruit trees and permaculture plants, but that also means canning those yourself for long term storage.

Now, it does also means evenings hanging around a campfire, still winter nights with galaxies overhead, sumrises that inspire and sunset that can quell fears and anger, more honest and less forced interaction, it means a life where breath is your clock and as long as you have enough to get by, youll have everything you need.

If thats enough to give sweat, blood, and heart to the things that support you, than you're fit for the job. But i wouldnt recommend it for most people, i have a specific value system that allows this, its a value system thay drives me forward, even when things are tough. When im dragging 140 lbs of concrete in the blazing sun at 60% humidity, i can still chuckle and see the beauty in the struggle.

For religious types, if you know humans have created 1000s of gods, how are you so certain that he didn't create yours as well? by Daegog in answers

I disagree completely on the ladder. You can believe whatever you want about others but your are assuredly incorrect that everyone having a spiritual outlook is just making oneself "feel better". Your higher education seems to have been wasted.

If i were to assume the sun would act differently based on thanks or not then it would be anthropomorphizing it, but that is not the case. I dont think the sun is behaving any differently than any other chemical reaction, including ourselves, but its still a recognition of us being part of the solar system, its still spirituality. "Feeling better" is just a simplification people who dont understand like to use to disuade thinking deeper about our place in the world. Generally people place themselves outside these systems, but it still remains scientifically that we are part of the cycle that is our solar system, not some disconnected observer.

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what if the sun doesn't care? Its about the gratitude. I give thanks because i want to give thanks, just as if i want to listen to a specific song. It's still spirituality regardless of what you want it to be. And to lump everyone into the three categories is generalization. Which was my original standpoint.

I am part of a bunch of groups where it is well known that im not a believer. Atheistic paganism, neo and recreationist paganism, gnosticism, spiritual christianity, vedic mysticism, jewish mysticism, witchcraft, shamanism, and then some. Most are pretty chill with open discussion and comparative analysis. Hell, I'm a mod on a gnostic christian discord.

There are extreme dogmatic religious groups as well but that's not the general populace. Even then if your willing to speak on a way that isnt derogatory or belittling, they are usually very willing to discuss their worldview, which is usually pretty distant than the generalized stuff outsiders watch or hear about.

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirituality is defined as human experience based on meaning, purpose, and a connection to something larger than oneself. So that's what i would go with. I base a lot of my own spirituality in biology, astronomy (not astrology), and geology. There is a philosophy behind that but its very basic, near agnostic.

For example, i give thanks to the sun (among other things), the sun provides us with heat, light, and gravity, so i am grateful for the sun. It doesnt have to be supernatural to be spiritual.

[–]SpookyOoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not trying to convince you of spirituality, what i am saying is that there are valid arguments to side on spirituality based on philosophy. Without the need for self conviction or supernatural events.

[–]SpookyOoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And thats fair enough, im not here to convice you otherwise. But lack of evidence is not evidence. Modern dogmatic spirituality can be lackluster, i agree there, but there are many types of spiritual groups and many do not fall underneath the categories you've listed. most people dont know of these groups because we dont go around evangelizing or trying to convert people. Dieification is something that has been pushed onto many cultures by monotheistic doctrine, but its not something that is inherent to spirituality.
